I always loved the idea of quick adjustable dumbbells like this, especially multiple sets with different maximum weight ranges, so I was quick to try this out. The plastic tray each dumbbell comes with is basically there to hold the detached weights in place and make adding/subtracting weights a painless process. Adjusting the weights is easy, and I find it incentivizes strength training problem areas on my body, because I don't have to search for the right dumbbell to avoid damaging the weak link, I just detach all the weights and use the handles to start. In the same vein, it is also a great way to warm up, starting with just the handle for a rep or two, then add more weight until you are at the maximum you can currently use. The adjustment function would be great even if it was clunky, but it is substantial feeling, easy to use, and quick to activate. The rainbow weight plates are just as good looking as I hoped they would be in the home gym, I highly recommend them over the others offered. These are not a name brand that I know, so I must bring up my one issue with these: the price. It is too high, there are fifty pound dumbbells in the same vein as this at a similar price, that is not acceptable, even when factoring in that this listing offers the sweet multicolored weight plates, it does not justify the price. ... show more

With full weights or no weights, they don't feel bulky -They don't take up that much space. Comparing them to similar weights, the size is small which is impressive -They feel pretty solid. I haven't dropped them.. but... your not suppose to either -4 dumbbells in one! Cons: -Minor con.... You can't go directly from 9LBS to 22.5LBS. You have to go 9 > 13.5 > 18 > 22.5... or 22.5 > 18 > 13.5 > 9. Other Thoughts: -This isn't a con because most all adjustable weights are like this. It takes some time to get used to putting the weights back. You have to wiggle them a little. ... show more

These are great weights! I absolutely love the system used to select the amount of weight you want to use. Basically, the dumbbell sits in the tray holder with all the weight plates on it. You turn the handle of the dumbbell to select the weight, and it clicks onto the weight plates (or leaves them behind in the tray if you want less weight) when you pick them up. For example, if I turn the dumbbell handle for 10 pounds, it clicks and selects the plates to create 10 pounds of weight. When you pick up the dumbbell, the plates that weren't selected remain upright in their tray, separate from the dumbbell. When you are finished, you slide the dumbbell back into the tray and the weight plates are all available again to choose. The dumbbells and weights all seem to be of good quality, and I haven't yet had any issues with the weight plate/click system. ... show more

I downsized a few years ago and my unused weights didn't make the cut. I'm ready to lift again, so it's time for a fresh new set. I do not have a dedicated exercise room, and even if I did, not sure why I'd buy an entire set of dumbbells when I can use this adjustable set. They work fabulously. Click the handle to the weight you want to lift, and it locks in and you can pick up to use. To change the weight, put the handle back on the cradle, switch the handle to the desired weight, and pick back up. The colors are a very groovy color palette, and they sit right in the corner and out of the way. My only concern is that the plastic seems to be on the lightweight side. If I drop the dumbbell or have a hard finish, they could crack. The stands are needed to change weights. Time will tell, and I will be optimistic that this set will outlast my use of it. ... show more

Using these is ridiculously easy. There is a button on them that is pressed by the base when they are in place so that's the only time you can rotate the handle to switch between different weights. I like that it means there no way for them to drop anything after picking what you want. I do notice it clicking into place when lifting up some times but the way it works means it can't shift too much. My only complaint is that this makes the base important so don't toss or break them. Good news is they seem very durable and the weights themselves are metal all around. The weight range is a good choice for anyone doing light workouts or just beginning. I find that as someone who doesn't work out nearly enough the upper end 22.5lbs weight is right about as little as I'd want. I mention to that to say if you think you may get to larger weights this set may not keep you going for line. Aside from that I'm very happy with them. Nothing flops or clanks around when moving them yet changing them is easy. Good set. ... show more

The build quality, look and feel of these weights are excellent. They are easy to adjust but lock at each setting with confidence-inspiring haptic feedback. I also like that one side of each dumbbell shows kg units and the other shows lbs so you can make your selections based on whichever units you’re more accustomed to. The bases are also nicely made and are durable as well. Though plastic, they are made of a heavy-duty plastic that supports the weights well and ensures they’re properly aligned to perform as intended. This is a great replacement for my previous low-weight set of loose dumbbells that were hard to find a good way to store. It’s great being able to keep this versatile set in a permanent footprint that takes up less than 1 sq-ft (I keep them on top of a 1 sq-ft floor pad as shown). My only wish is that the weights were even heavier, but it’s great that they already cover the range of my previous set while extending in to an even higher range. Highly recommended. ... show more
