Description

An adjustable dumbbell uses a series of removable plates to achieve different levels of weight. The ease of removing and replacing these weight plates makes adjustable dumbbells a desirable, flexible option. The weight plates sit in a rack with the bar in the middle. Got this set of dumbbells for my wife and myself to use at home. Figured it'd be pretty poor quality given the price but was pleasantly surprised by the build quality and materials use. Super easy to change from 3-22lbs. Just need to make sure you insert the handle in the same direction which you pulled the weights out so that the weights are aligned properly. Hard to explain but easy to see in person when looking at the weights sitting in the holder. Otherwise it prevents the rotating handle from adding additional weights. Only minor downside with these types of adjustable dumbbells is that the weights do clunk around a little when you're lifting the dumbbells (like doing a curl or military press) but that's an inherent issue with all these types of system as the weight discs are just a little loose on the handle. Not a big deal as you'll get used to noise but just something to be aware of. Otherwise, I am super happy with them and would definitely recommend them if you're looking for something to use when you can't get to the gym easily. ... show more

    • Good value, works as intended, adds additional weight options to my existing weight set
I previously purchased a set of individual dumbbells, which work reasonably well but take up a lot of space. I noticed also that going from 5 lbs up to 10 lbs was a big jump so I was looking for a way to have intermediate steps. I really liked this set because it has a nice attractive design visually, and also a smart design for how to change out the plates to different sizes. You just set the dumbbell down onto the stand, rotate the handle to select the size you want, and lift it back up. It automatically adjusts both sides The first 3 sizes are 2.5 lbs, 8 lbs and 13.5 lbs. What's nice is I also have individual dumbbells of 5, 10, 15 lbs so now by using this adjustable dumbbell, plus the set I already have, I am able to increase the weight by small amounts - 2.5, 5 (other set), 8, 10 (other set), 13.5, 15 (other set) which makes it much easier to find exactly the right amount of resistance. Compared to buying a set of dumbbells separately, having this adjustable one has saved me a lot of money, and it also saves me space in the room. These adjustable dumbbells are at a great price point. I use them often and they work fine. There are 2 things that are a slight nuisance. First it can sometimes be difficult to to put the weights back when not using the full weight, as you have to make sure they dumbbell is in the correct direction and lined up perfect to get it back on the tray. Secondly when you pick your weight up off the tray, you should wiggle the handle back and fourth to ensure it is locked, because if you don't, and it isn't in the locked position one of the weights may fall off. ... show more

Thank God my husband was not doing anything overhead. we were working out, rear delts, and one of the weights fell off and smashed his pinky toe. we attempted to proceed but the other side fell off. not smashing anything this time. From the beginning we've not had the best experience with these. yes, we bought them because the price was cheapest we found with 52lbs; and i suppose that is the saying, you get what you pay for. in the beginning, we'd have trouble changing weights, they wouldn't always attach the the dumb bell we'd have to drop it back down and readjust. plus getting the weights back to the base wasn't always smooth either. in comparison to a Walmart brand CAP, these are horrible. ... show more

The price was great considering the prices for other adjustable dumbbells in this weight range. There are downsides tho. Unless the weight plates are lined up just perfectly they are not easy to set in and lock in another weight. They would be kind of a pain if you go up and down in weight a lot. Otherwise they seem sturdy. The grips are comfortable. The locking mechanism seems safe. If the plates are lined up just right it twists and locks very smoothly. But good luck with getting the plates lined up without doing it manually each time. If my budget would have allowed it, I probably would have just returned these for a better set. Now as far as the base, it arrived broken and from the comments or outside reviews this is the biggest fault they have. Mine is broken in two pieces and you actually need the base to manipulate the weight needed for your exercise session, without the base you are not able to manipulate it at all. Grips are rubber padded and build quality is good so far. Plates do move around a bit on the plastic holder so have to wiggle around a bit to fit the dumbbells into the slots when changing plates. Overall pretty satisfied so far.
