    • Great for powering longer interview video shoots
I'm using this to power my 90D when performing longer interview video shoots to eliminate the hassle of staying on top of the battery state. It would also work well for different studio applications where your camera is fixed to a tripod and mobility isn't a requirement. The 'dummy' battery fits well inside the camera body, and cable routing is no concern for me because I have already removed my battery door - I normally run an extended grip on the bottom of the camera. I like that there is a 5.5x2.5mm DC barrel connector inline - this provides a quick way to disconnect the 'dummy' battery while leaving everything else secured in place. It also gives the entire system a way to safely disconnect in the event of an inadvertent trip... preventing such a trip from damaging your camera. My Canon EOS 6D full-frame camera uses LP-E6 batteries just like all the other "professional" bodies in the Canon line. These days, most of my photography is limited to indoor macro/product work, so when this LP-E6 "dummy battery" adapter came up for evaluation, I thought it was probably a good time to get myself a backup. I'm glad I did, because this seems like a good product. The transformer portion (brick) feels more solidly built than my old adapter and is smaller as well. That is always a good sign. Measured output voltage for this power supply is a consistent 8.26V, which is almost exactly what my multimeter reads from the old dummy battery set. This is about .14 volts below the upper limit (8.4V) of what the EOS line is supposed to be able to take from a freshly-charged LP-E6 battery in top condition. My old adapter has been in use for years at this same voltage, so I would say that it is probably a safe bet that your camera is safe with this product. One thing I like about this particular adapter is that the connection between dummy battery and AC adapter is a 5.5mm x 2.1mm barrel connection, with the female connector being on the dummy battery side. Since 5.5mm x 2.1mm is the most common of the barrel style connectors, and since most transformers have a male connector, finding a new transformer, should the need arise, should not involve tracking down something uncommon. Recommended. This power adapter fits perfectly into both my Canon EOS R and 70D. The battery pack has a place for the wire and, when placed into the camera, the battery door closes with ease. The cord is of good quality and has a fast disconnect close to the camera to prevent damage to the camera should the cord get stepped on. The overall cord length is a little short for my taste, though. I do stop motion photography in my home studio and, therefore, a power adapter like this is essential. Not all are created equally, however. I have had several over the years with various issues. The latest one I had caused my camera to disconnect and reconnect randomly while shooting. I can't even begin to describe how annoying this was. This adapter has solved that issue for me, however. This power adapter fits well into the camera. There is not a lot of force needed to click it into place and the cord easily sits where it should so the door can close as well. Installing it was very simple. On the cord itself, there's a quick disconnect connector. These are a blessing, especially if you are like me and often step on or trip over cords. The connector is solid with a snug fit - until stepped on, of course. Overall the cord is of good quality. The overall unit is very light. So far I have been able to run my camera on this for 8+ hours at a time without an issue, such as excessive heat. My only complaint is that this cord is a little short compared to some of my other adapters. The camera that used to have the disconnect issue is across the room and this cord could not reach my power adapter from there. I changed the cameras around so the cord was closer to my outlet and it worked fine. However, it would have been nice to have a couple more feet of length instead of messing with my camera placement. I have used this daily, and for hours at a time, for lots of days out of the week. It has held up well. The camera has not had trouble, the temperature has been okay, and overall it has worked about as well as it should. Most things use an npf battery at this point, and i only have one or two pieces of gear that use an E6. So that i domt habe to keep a single (or two single) E6 batteries charged, i just use this dummy and rig it to either a V mount or an NPF plate. Does the job!

I wanted to use my older camera as a webcam, so I grabbed this. Perfect for it. Doesn't seem to overheat the camera, has worked for about a month, 10 hours a day. It's excellent. Not sure what else needs to be said on this, but it's darn good. Also, you don't exactly have a ton of options. BUT, it's affordable, and does the job. Would recommend it. ... show more
