The first sentence included in the instructions (in very small print) to this device states that there must be a space between your door and the jam for this to work. I have an old home (1800s) and heavy, well constructed, wooden, thick doors. There is a very tight fit and little space between the door and the jam/frame. For that reason, this would not work on my door. I am keeping the item for now to see if it works on a hotel room door while on vacation. I bought this to keep the kids out of my office when I’m in zoom meetings because my office door doesn’t have a lock. It works perfectly. I honestly have no complaints. I think everyone should have one of these, especially if your door does not have a lock. These would also come in handy if you are in a domestic violence situation and your abuser is in the same house as you. This will Protect you. I wish that I had this product five years ago.
