These work great. My plants get fungus gnats every winter. These keep them manageable. I had tried the large yellow squares which were just too big and caught nothing. These can fit in any pot and since they are low to the soil level, they catch more gnats. Cute designs. Very sticky.

I have a greenhouse, and grow organically ( in container pots) So when I noticed some gnats/fruit flies in the soil I wanted to get rid of them without chemicals. I put these sticky traps in the affected containers and within a few hours caught most of the pests. By the next morning, I believe I have caught them all. I pulled up the trap and discarded them. It couldn’t be easier, and all done without pesticides/chemicals. One note: the trap is not strong enough to simply push into the soil, but the box came with a little tool to push into the soil first and then put in the trap. Any sturdy small tool will work ( popsicle stick, knife ) This was a very inexpensive and clean way to get rid of my pests ... show more

So, last summer, partially due to my error and mostly due to the dirt manufacturer's/packager's error, I purchased dirt that apparently is for garden use only. Well, I ended up with a fungus gnat infestation because it. These things do work, but if you end up with an infestation like I did, you're going to have to use other methods for getting rid of them. Get these things at the VERY FIRST sign of fungus gnats, they work better in the beginning before they start to multiply to the hundreds. Now that I've taken other measures and they are down into the tens, it is manageable with these. They are actually very sticky so you can't use the top part to put them in the dirt. The little shovel is basically useless, broke the first time I tried to use it. I super glued it but haven't tried to use it again. I found that these sticky traps worked perfectly for me and my plants. There are no pesticides that I am aware of, and within a few days of service, the small flies were gone. The traps are small and unassuming, so they can "hide" inside your plants. I actually cut them since I was not concerned if the device looked like a bird or whatever, I just wanted to not see anything. Conversely, you may want to pay careful attention to the size of these. I had the unfortunate experience of buying a bag of potting soil, only to find that it clearly had fungus gnat eggs/larvae when they hatched shortly after repotting a few plants. I couldn’t believe how quickly the population exploded. I moved all of the plants to a central location and added these sticky traps. While these traps only help to catch the adults - they do a GREAT job. This combined with some “Mozzie Bits” to kill any larvae have taken care of the problem! Bought a plant that was infested with fungus gnats which rapidly spread to other plants. Ordered these insect traps and placed several throughout my plants and have caught hundreds of the gnats. A great alternative to using insecticides. They really do work!

So far these traps have been great at catching fungus knats! I’ve only tried the cat and the explosion ones though, and the paper comes off well, most every time. A small piece of paper has stuck a few times on the cat one’s, though it was easy to peel off. I put these traps in my seedlings trays, as you can see in the pics, and they work well! It took about half a day for the knats to find the traps. I used scissors to cut the ends down, so they could fit in the half inch seedling trays. They seem very durable, not to flimsy, and are a good size. Definitely recommend! ... show more
