This thing is pretty great even if you just need some light on a table the three lighting options are substantial. I took pictures in very low light to show how bright the highest setting is as well as how cool the blue is on its own but Amazon is not letting me upload pictures. The self cleaning brush is always great when I wake up the following day all I have to do is tap the bottom and release the catch from last night. All in all pretty good light and the slight hum you get when a bug flies into it is pretty satisfying. Edit: I have had this zapper for a while now... But only after like 6 months the solar recharge part stops working which kind of defeats the point of this for me. I reached out to the seller just to see if it was a frequent issue or a one off I never got a response so I am dropping the stars but it technically does work and work well when plugged in, just pointless of me at this time. ... show more

It did take me a minute to figure out how to turn on the purple light instead of white light but it does kill the mosquitoes. I love the self cleaning function (hold button down for 6 seconds) and I live near a river so the mosquitoes are bad. I like that I can just leave this one outside and don't have to bring it in to charge like my other one. The purple light lasts for hours. We did try to use the brightest white light one night for a bon fire and it only lasted an hour but that is okay because I didn't really buy it to be used as a light. It might have lasted longer but I didn't bring it in and only let it solar charge that day. Overall, I really love that it is solar and I can leave it outside and forget about it while at the same time reducing mosquitoes to a tolerable level. ... show more

I was looking for a bug zapper that I could keep as a permanent fixture in my backyard. I saw that this one had a self-cleaning function, so I decided to give it a shot. Placement with these things is everything, so finding that perfect spot took some trial and error. But once I did, the zapper went to work. Once zapper mode is activated on the lantern, it turns on and off on its own based on the light sensor (dusk to dawn). It would be nice if there were a way to force it on without having to cover up the sensor, though. Thanks to the trickle charging from its solar panel, I was able to leave it alone for about a week before I felt the need to charge it back to 100%. The zapper does get a little dirty after a while with all the bugs that get stuck to it, but the self-cleaning brush runs on its own every few days to clean it up. If you can't wait that long, you can force clean it by pressing and holding the power button on top until the brush starts moving (about 5 seconds or so). Charge it by USB and catch moths. I bought it for mosquitoes (there's so many right now) but it turns out mosquitoes are primarily attracted to warmth and CO2 and don't really care about blue light so they aren't getting caught. Bummer. Also the solar charger is very weak so it's better to charge by USB. If you want to catch moths, it does work for that but don't bother buying if you wanted it for mosquitoes. The self-cleaning thing mostly works. It's a huge surprise when it turns on and starts making a loud mechanical whirling noise. Instructions say it automatically self-cleans every 72 hours. ... show more

this works great and i love the fact it is solar activated and turns on by itself at night. it has brought down my mosquito population but alot! This is truly a life safer and i am so thankful for whoever thought of the design in making this amazing this item a possibility to have. You wont regret this. Watch the video on how to turn it on on the sight thats the only part that was tricky for me. but once that is figured out its easy. Im buying 3 more now they work so good! NO need for a plug you can hang them anywhere ... show more
