  • Works perfectly for me
I think it’s a terrific machine pretty heavy which is why the stand is a great option assembly fairly straightforward don’t tighten the bolts down until you’ve mounted the splitter onto the stand because you’ll to align them but afterwords it’s so easy to move around I’ve been able to split 9” logs easily also be sure to select a 20 amp outlet if you have one ... show more

  • Works great, saves a lot of back-breaking work!
One note: the actual delivered product does not, as pictured, say "Bilt Hard" on the side, but instead has the parent company's name/logo ("Hykolity") on there instead. At first I thought this was an incorrect product shipped out, but when I looked up "Bilt Hard" and "Hykolity" it appears that they are the same company. IMHO the "Bilt Hard" name is a bit cheesy but inspires more confidence than the "Hykolity" name I'd never heard of, but this appears to be just branding, no deeper change. It took a while to get this, but when it finally arrived, I hauled it out back (having a good dolly to move it was a lifesaver; this is a heavy heavy beast!) and immediately started putting it together. This was pretty straightforward, and I didn't have any issues with the bolts being too short as some other reviews said (noting that instead of reusing the bolts I took off the no-stand assembly, I used the package of longer bolts supplied in the box). Once assembled, I rolled it out to my sectioning/chopping area with a pile of wood. Everything worked great, *much* simpler and less back-breaking than working with an axe or maul/sledge, etc. I was working mostly with *well*-seasoned hardwoods our home's previous owners had left for us. Varying lengths (hence the sectioning with a chainsaw needed), and often knotty wood. I suspect these were "rejects" from a firewood supplier. But still, this unit performed admirably. * I found that trying to split a *short* segment (about 6" long only), the splitter didn't provide enough power to split it all the way at the end of its extension. I put another ~14" log in "front" of the short segment I wanted to split, and that allowed the splitter to provide enough pressure to force the short segment through the blade and split it easily. * I only failed on one *very* knotty chunk of a segment. I had previously tried to split this with a maul with no luck as well. I ended up just chain-sawing it into shorter round chunks that can be thrown on top of a fire rather than a longer split log. * It is *very* easy to forget about the "bleed" valve. I decided I need to put a bright red tag on that valve so I remember to loosen it once everything is set up, and tighten it again before pushing the splitter back into my shed. * DO NOT allow anyone to stand at the "other end" of the splitter! Several of my logs ended up launching about six feet down after splitting. I think this is because they would compress slightly before the blade "bit" into them, and then once it bit in, uncompressed and then launched away hard. Obviously not an issue with this device, but more likely related to my specific set of wood and circumstances. Still, I haven't seen any warnings about this on this or other splitters, and can only imagine how painful iw would be for a half log to hit someone with the force it eventually hit the ground. ... show more

  • They finally backed the product
I ordered this wood splitter in the spring, and unfortunately did not unbox it until fall. I discovered that the housing unit over the hydraulic engine was cracked and therefore it did not work. I contacted the company, we had many back and forth arguments, they tried to not do anything since I was past 90 days, sent me to a local shop to see if it could be fixed, tried to get me to pay half to send a replacement. In the end I asked that they do the right thing and stand by their product, and they sent me a replacement. I am really glad this was resolved, and the wood splitter is fantastic, I really love it. I am a single mom and I really needed a good wood splitter and I needed them to make this right, they did. ... show more

  • Does the job
I have always wanted a log splitter and the Black Friday deal was outstanding, couldn't pass it up. Well not so good, the product arrived and I put it together. It was not hard but very heavy and awkward. After getting it all together I noticed the front leg was bent and damaged. Frustrating for sure. I contacted the seller to see what they could do, send a new part or discount the item since I did not want to take apart, repackage and lug it off to UPS not to mention loosing the great Black Friday discount. They haggled a bit and I agreed to $60 off. Overall, I got an absolutely outstanding log splitter for a great, great price with a bent leg, I am OK with that. I split 50 logs the first week, very easy and without hesitation. Quick note: there is a little thumb screw near the handle that must be open (unscrewed) slightly to operate and don't try wet logs, it put too much strain on the machine, but dry logs work awesome. I would buy again and definitely recommend. ... show more

  • Great small splitter
Great splitter. I purchase firewood by the cord. Most individual logs are too large for my fireplace. I usually split them 1 to 3 times. I have split 1 cord so far. No issues. Much easier than firing up the larger gasoline one.

  • Great product
Size: 25-Ton
Honestly I’m impressed with this machine. It was little process putting together but fun also to know how the components are so when you need repair or maintenance . Very powerful.
