I’ve compared them to much more expensive name brand sets and, again, you can’t beat these for the price. Note when gripping they’re not evenly weighted like some of the more expensive brand name sets, BUT you just need to adjust your grip for each exercise and you’ll be fine. This required a small adjustment on my part, but it’s perfectly fine. They’re easy and quick to adjust and have worked well for every exercise I’ve done. As has been stated in other reviews, these weights are good, but unreliable. As the instructions say to do, I make sure they're seated properly in the grooves of the trays, and I listen for the "click" as the locking mechanism engages when selecting my desired weight, but several times I have had plates simply fall out when lifting. As long as you give the bar a good jiggle before using the weights you can usually ensure no mishaps occur, but this is definitely a case of poor quality assurance by the manufacturer. Probably too much hassle to return, but if I had paid attention to the warnings in other reviews... Edit: I've dropped from 3 to 1 star. I simply can't recommend this set of weights for any reason. I love these adjustable dumbbells weights, they're a perfect addition for anyone with a home gym. Adjustable weights at around $2.20 a pound is a steal! I've done a lot of research on adjustable weights lately and they typically range from double to quadruple the price of these for big name brands. These are very cost effective while also maintaining phenomenal quality. Unlike other adjustable weights these change from 5lbs to 25lbs in increments of 11 in seconds! Not only that but each weight is securely held. I don't have to worry about the weights falling on my head like others that have snap individual adjustments. They come with a rack that holds them in place and have a flat bottom on the weights so you don't have to worry about them rolling away either. You can also use them for assisted push ups and the handles have nice soft grip so you don't have to worry about them cutting up your hands or needing to wear gloves. . However, I found you can simply remove one plate from the rack if you prefer an odd increment of say 16.5lbs instead of 11lbs or 22lbs as each plate weighs 5.5lbs. Multiply by 8 plus 11lbs handle gives you 55lbs. Lastly I love how the plates are tough steel and not those bulky plastic plated plates you see on some name brand adjustable dumbbells that look and feel cheap. 5* I'd recommend it to everyone from beginners to pros. ... show more

Second time I used them, I dialed in 10 pounds on both. Click and Click. I picked up 10 pounds on the left and 15 pounds on the right. I had an extra plate that came out of the tray with the right hand unit. Fortunately, it didn't fall away until I tapped it as I went to put them down. It landed in the tray, so no harm there. My thought is, just dialing in a weight isn't enough. You must visually check what you are picking up before you lift too far. Apart from that, they are otherwise as described.
