Top Amazon Reviews

  • Great for beginners and pros alike
Color: Black
I was into the R/C hobby during my teen years. I'm now in my mid 40's and felt like getting back into it. I went with the Terminator carbon version based on reviews by trusted R/C YouTube channels. I was not disappointed. TL/DR = just buy it. It's awesome. First, let me say that this truck is durable. I'm a blue collar, hands on kind of guy. Repairing and upgrading these things is part of the fun for me. That's the point of bashing. Run it until it breaks, fix it and repeat. So far I've beaten the heck out of this thing and the truck just asks for more. I haven't broken a single major component. Despite routine bad landings on big air jumps and multiple high speed collisions with stationary objects the only damage I've had was a bent wheelie bar which was easily replaced. Next let's talk performance. The Omni-Terminator is plenty good straight from the box. If you're looking for something that will go fast and bash with the big name brands without spending money on upgrades, this truck will do that all day. On the other hand, if you're like me and enjoy taking something from "pretty good" to "wow" then Rlaarlo has you covered as well. Both here on Amazon and directly from their website you can get an upgraded version of practically any part on the truck as well as any stock replacements that might be needed should you actually manage to break it. They even include some in the box. There's a 27 tooth high speed pinion gear and the required hardware to upgrade to larger batteries by relocating the ESC. Just those two modifications alone really wake the truck up in terms of speed and torque. 50mph, wheelies for days and backflips galore. Suffice it to say that whether you want to wrench on it or run it stock this thing will scratch your itch. Finally my recommendations. I suggest getting the carbon version. There really isn't much carbon on it but it does include a better ESC/motor combo as well as a far superior transmitter. For those things alone the carbon version is worth the extra money. It's also worth it to use the included battery conversion kit and order a larger 3S battery. The included one isn't bad by any means but running a better one gives a noticeable difference in run time and performance. Take note that you must relocate some electronics to make room for the larger pack. An earlier reviewer posted pictures where the battery didn't fit because he had not done that step. It's easy to do and there are videos explaining how. On that subject another reviewer gave one star and returned the product because the transmitter "didn't work". The radios come from the factory set in the "locked" mode indicated by a padlock image shown in the display. A quick google search will show the simple way to unlock full functionality. In conclusion, the Omni-Terminator is an outstanding choice for someone looking for a solid RTR that can take a beating or the tweaker who wants to mess with everything and experiment with set-ups. If you're on the fence, don't worry, just go for it. To anyone who makes it this far... here's two secret tips that most users don't know. 1. The channel 3 thumb button on the remote (located just behind the trigger) is a "turbo" mode that boosts the punch setting of the stock ESC. This will give you harder acceleration and easy wheelies from a dead stop when turned on. It's tons of fun. 2. The stock brake settings are a little high which can cause the truck to front flip under hard braking. The fix for this is to turn up the throttle trim (up arrow on the transmitter) until the truck just starts to move by itself. Then back it down two clicks and leave it there. This will give you instant throttle response and much more manageable braking. Hope this was helpful and happy bashing! ... show more

  • Impressive for the money
Color: Black
Just opening the box and taking it out is a good experience. Being a cheaper car I expected it to be lack luster but was completely wrong. The styling is incredible, the quality is insane and it comes with so much that I wasn’t expecting. This is the first act rtr vehicle since it comes with all it needs to run and more. The build quality was insane and seems to be genuine material with a cool feel and design. Running the truck it has its quirks but that’s what makes it fun. Pretty fast out of the box and handles like a dream. It can handle all the terrain I was able to run it on. Bumps are nothing to this car it just absorbs all bumps and jumps. The chassis stayed straight which is impressive considering most metal chassis bend after a couple hard landings. Although it doesn’t have an auto self righting system you can manually do it and it works most of the time. The body can handle the abuse you throw at it and most importantly the run time is impressive. I got about 30 mins on the battery it came with. Absolutely impressive machine. Only complaint is that the light bar upfront could use a more sturdy install since it was ripped off in the first couple crashes but otherwise insanely great product for the money. Best couple hundred I’ve spent in a long time. Honestly better than a couple traxxas cars I own lol. Also final thought is the brakes are insane. Comes to a stop so fast that it front flips ... show more

  • Is it worth it? Omni Terminator yes!(Still RUNNING)
Color: Black
RC cars come in so many sizes and price range, how do you make sense of this? I'm still fairly new and a quick study. This is the fourth RC car I've purchased this year and the most expensive. I've had it long enough to understand it will be my #1 because in spite of repeated beatings it is available to play with always. My #2 and #3 cars have broken, ordered parts, repaired and broken again while the RLAARLO handles it all... some really tough tumbles and a few stationary objects. The construction is well thought out. Just the right amount of metal, plastic, and carbon fiber in the right places. My #2 car, pretty much all metal does not do well with impact. It looks cooler only on days it's functional. The #3 car is mostly plastic and holds up pretty good overall to most tumbles but explodes on impact with stationary things like trees or teatherball poles. Now to make my point. I have spent more money on parts and more down time than fun on cars 2 and 3. So the RLAARLO car was the most expensive to purchase, however not a single failure to cause downtime or additional costs on parts replacements. I play hard with my toys, honestly most failures center around operator error. I didn't mean to hit the fence or garage. The cheaper cars will break unless you are one to be very conservative about your operation. The RLAARLO Omni Terminator is fast, and if you change the drive gear (included with car) to the larger one in the parts bag, it's faster yet. It's built well in the right places and allowed to flex with a combination of different materials. So yes, no doubt it's worth a premium for a better RC car. Truth be known, I enjoy repairing them, but it's way better to be racing it. If something funny happens I'll add to this review. Also five Stars until further noted. There is nothing not to like. These are cool and I'm old, I appreciate the technology and craftsmanship. Usually in awe of one of these things ripping up the grass or shooting stones. Addendum: Sadly a glancing blow to the wooden fence broke a few suspension pieces. The good news is that the parts for this particular car are readily available with reasonable shipping time. Still my all around favorite. Parts arrive, time to work on your hobby. Plastic parts are of a unique combination of hard, yet flexible. Everything fits with precision and it's back running tough as if it were new. We jump it hard, it's the landing's I worry about. If you don't hit something stationary, it handles the craziest heights and distances. Of all the cars I've ever purchased, this is hands down the most durable and I may purchase another to take care of while I push my original into new impossible circumstances. My bigger cars aren't as fun as this one. ... show more
