The media could not be loaded. Opening the package: the rc car is well packaged and seems like it would prevent any kind of shipping damage First impressions: wow, this rc car looks cool! The electric green color is sharp and the graphics are very well done. Any kid (or adult for that matter) will love the looks. Tires: tires are foamless but are very "grippy" and provide for just enough traction to rip around the street or in grass less than 2 inches 2-n-1 ESC & receiver combo: speed controller and receiver are combined. I like how the rc car comes equipped with lights that plug in directly into the speed controller. Servo: the truck also comes with a standard 3-wire servo that I thought was going to be too slow, but when driving the truck, the servo is just about the right speed and not overly sensitive, which is great for beginners. Also, if you want to upgrade the ESC, the 3-wire servo will plug right in. Shocks: the truck rc car comes with friction shocks (not oil shocks) which I thought was going to make the truck too bouncy, but when driving the truck, the weight of the truck is just light enough to prevent too much bouncing and the dampers do their job well Size: the size is 1/18 scale. You can see pictures of the truck next to Rlaarlo's 1/14 scale rc cars, which is about the same size as the 1/14 Rlaarlo brushless buggy and it's bigger brother, the 1/14 Rlaarlo brushed monster truck. Durability: the rc car truck is perfect for the beginner and most of all, it's hobby grade and the chassis is well designed, meaning the truck can take a real beating. Having your first RC be very tough and durable makes getting into the hobby fun as you don't have to worry about breaking the RC car every time you drive it. This particular model is very durable. Driving: the rc car is zippy and packs a punch in such a small package. The speed and acceleration are just fast enough for adults to have a lot of fun zipping it around the yard, but just slow enough that a beginner can get into the hobby without it being too fast. Parts: the truck comes with everything you need—a standard hex wrench for tightening up the tire nuts, two good quality1300 MAH 2s 7.4v batteries, a USB charger, and extra body pins. I have over 40+ RC cars and many of those are 1/14, 1/16, and 1/18th scale. I would say that for the price, this is a great buy and the value is there for the money. Overall, I think Rlaarlo as an rc car manufacturer is innovating in the space and has released uniquely fun hobby-grade RC Cars. Would recommend this 5/5. ... show more

Super cool and fast. Bought for myself to keep up with my 6 yr old and his fast RC car. It’s super fast and so far durable. Can go on grass but we don’t spend a lot of time doing that as I don’t want to waste battery. Haven’t used it long enough for battery to die on one session so I would say the battery last long enough for us! Super easy to charge Dislike You have to take the top off (at least the front) each time to hit the bottom to power on. Trying to keep the car to go straight is slightly challenging but just have to adjust the dials ... show more

There is something seriously wrong with the electronics on this car, it won't reverse 90% of the time. No matter how close the transmitter is to the car. Returning it for a different brand that actually does QA on their product, lots of other reviews noting this same issue. Update: I returned the green one for the white and red version. This one works perfectly, actually reverses properly. Car is fast, durable, batteries last a long time on a charge. Maybe ~20 minutes.     • Fall in love with RC again.
After wanting a hobby grade RC car since I was a kid, I could not believe the price and ratings this one was getting so I thought I’d give it a shot. It is simply amazing fun for the price. Will definitely have you catching the RC car hobby bug (upgrades, mods, faster, bigger, more tricks!) Fast enough to be adult fun, but can be slowed down with an adjustment knob on the remote for young and novice drivers. Thing is tough too, I think it being 1:18 scale helps with this too, just doesn’t generate the same forces 1:10 scale bigger and heavier cars do. I read reviews of 1:10th scale $500 cars that break constantly, but I can’t believe the abuse I’ve put this through and it just keeps trucking. I had kind of always wanted the traditional 1:10th scale size RC car, but I have no regrets going smaller. In some ways I think these smaller cars are more fun, scale speed is faster (even if overall they are not that fast). 20 mph feels faster in a small car than 20 mph in a bigger one. Has me already looking at other (yes, faster) cars in this same size. Ones I would never have looked at before because they weren’t the larger 1:10th scale. Also like that not as much space is required to still have fun. Want to bash in a smaller parking lot, smaller driveway, or even maybe a basement? These smaller cars the way to go. Don’t need as much room to open them up. Spare parts may be an issue (haven’t had to try to get any as nothing has broke, so I don’t know for sure), but at this price buy two cars….one for your main ride and one as a “parts donor”! The only slight disappointment is the cheap all plastic shocks it comes with. They will get you by though just to have some fun, but an upgrade will make all the difference in the world in terms of handling and making this car feel (and look) like a way more expensive car than it is. Found a pair of replacement all metal oil shocks on Amazon that fit this perfect for about $15. The listing did not say that they fit this model specifically but they were made for other 1:18th scale cars and they ended up working out fine with just the slightest modification. Totally worth it. If you’re wanting to get back into the hobby or get into it for the first time, this is definitely the way to go. In an era of everything seeming to cost more and more for less and less, it is good to find a product that seems to reverse that trend. ... show more

    • Better than a toy
This thing is fast! It’s powerful enough to zip across carpeting and almost too fast for inside the house. At full speed a sharp turn will roll the car over. Luckily the control has trim controls and you’re able to tune down the throttle. My dogs love it. It’s super fun for them to chase it and my little dogs have to run at full speed just to keep up. The batteries are powerful and long lasting. You get plenty of play time per charge. I will echo two small complaints. You have to remove the body to turn the car on/off and change the battery. Changing the battery can be a bit challenging. If you are buying this for your kids, be prepared to help them change the battery every time. ... show more
