  • THE WORST.
Color: Gray Style: Opener
I honestly cannot comprehend how this can opener has so many good reviews because I truly despise it. Like with a deep down passion, I hate the thing. Maybe I just received a lemon, but nothing about this can opener seems efficient or user-friendly to me. For further clarification... It is difficult to attach to any can. It is not only hard to turn the handle, but the handle must be turned opposite of what feels natural. It shreds labels and leaves shards of the shredded paper in the can’s contents. It shreds pieces of the actual can and also leaves those shards in the can’s contents. After you finally get the can fully open (which seems to take an exceptionally long time), it is difficult to remove the “lid” of the can from the can opener, so you always end up with dirty hands. ... show more

  • Read one star reviews. They are true.
Color: Gray Style: Opener
It very fragile. I’m anticipating the plastic snap parts to eventually break. Especially the lock feature. It is a weak part that I cannot imagine holding up to a variety of users hands. Too much force and I foresee it breaking. If it holds out for a couple of years -I’ll change my review. The magnetic part does nothing. I regret not purchasing more sturdy standard can opener. Update: I reread reviews with 1 Star. All that they mention is true. I too am flabbergasted by the great reviews. Are folks paid for positive marketing reviews? I purchased this item because of these reviews. I decided to write a review to allow others an opportunity to have honest appraisal. Again: if this continues to work- I will change my review. ... show more

  • One year in and I finally gave up
Color: Gray Style: Opener
I rarely give bad reviews but felt I had to with this one. I bought it based on all the amazing reviews and was very surprised to find that I couldn't operate it very well. At first I thought I just had to get used to the new kind of opener since it isn't like the classic ones so... I kept trying. And trying. And then I realized that I just didn't like it but by then I didn't want to buy a new one since I already spent the money. So I tried for a year and finally just 2 days ago out of the millionth frustration with this device I bought a new, classic one that works like it should. The main problem with this one for me was that it rarely got around a whole can without slipping off. It was also hard to "latch" it on initially and took about 2-5 times of trying to get a good latch. When it finally latched it would only go a little ways before slipping off. Even worse... if there was a slight dent in the can or even if the can was a bit misshapen, the opener wouldn't work at all! It would open a small portion and then I had to resort many times to prying the rest off with a knife. This happened a lot. It was frustrating, too, since I have small children and almost always needed to get food on the table fast. Anyways, just thought I'd leave an honest review since I experienced a lot of frustration with this thing. I thought maybe mine was defective but it looks fine to me. I'd say just stick with the classic openers - can't go wrong with something that's worked for many many years! ... show more

  • Best Can Opener I've Ever Owned
Color: Gray Style: Opener
After almost 4 months of use, I can say that this is, without doubt, the very best can opener I have ever owned and that includes sundry electric can openers as well. Over the years I have purchased various types of can openers from various vendors, and none - absolutely none - have worked as well as this one. In fact, I would rate all the other openers I have owned as zero or perhaps a negative rating except for an electric opener I have owned for years and that one I'd rate a 3. This opener is hands down a 5 and is the only one I use now. However, I will say this: there is a tendency to really squeeze this opener (and I mean get a death grip on the handles) as I am turning the crank. This arises from my sorry history with manual can openers. It was necessary to really clamp down in order to keep the cutter running through the metal. I have to remind myself to ease up, relax, give the tool a break. It locks into position and it only takes slight pressure to keep cutting the can while easily turning the handle. But I can see why a number of unhappy buyers broke the opener; for years everyone has had to physically wrestle with the appliance to get it to work and even then it wouldn't work well. So I think that all of us who have had such a miserable history with this device naturally go at this product with hammer and tongs when we first get it. I would advise anyone buying this great little tool to ease up by 90% and you will be amazed just how quick and easy it is to open a can. Really. It is almost effortless. ... show more

  • Do not be fooled by these 5-star reviews.
Color: Gray Style: Opener
How this can possibly get such a high review is beyond me. Our old junky one lasted for years, and since my wife is basically addicted to beans (soups, chili, salads, etc) we opened cans almost every day. So when it finally wore out, I thought this looked like a good "high tech" option. Boy was I wrong. It worked great for about three months, maybe five, but I think because it's made out of molded plastic it has lost the ability to properly track the can's edge more than 1/8 way around. Then once it "jumps the track" it deforms the can's edge in that spot so you can't get it re-started. So you start somewhere else, and what you end up with is a "dotted line" result all the way around. Good-looking useless garbage. ... show more

  • This was a PITA until I figured out why it worked selectively.
Color: Gray Style: Opener
A can opener right. What is so difficult about a can opener. On certain cans it works like it should. On others it refused to work and would slip as the handle was turned and would work its way up so the blade would not be cutting the can. Took many attempts to open a single can. I finally had the time to really look at it to see WTH was the problem. It turns out cans that are a heavier gauge metal put pressure on the opener forcing the top and bottom handles to widen. The gear loses traction and slips. I find it works when I use the heal of my hand to push to the right while my fingers put pressure on the top handle to the left so the gears do not separate losing contact. Poor design. I do not recommend. ... show more
