So, I'll start by saying that I'm pretty new to guitars, so I'm not an expert, but I know good quality when I see it. This kit seems to be of very nice quality and everything fits together nicely. Everything is included to build the guitar of your dreams, you just need the tools and to finish it however you see fit (paint, etc). I'm pretty excited about building this out and being able to tell everyone that I built my own guitar :) Like the other reviewers mentioned, no instructions were included. It's easy enough to figure it out with some online research, but I feel like some included instructions would have been a reasonable (and cheap) addition to this package... aside from that, everything that you need is included. I like it - I think it's a good value and really good quality for the money.... what a fun project. Recommended. ... show more

Bought an SG style Bass guitar kit through Amazon. Very nice wood workmanship with the body and neck. The head was anatomically correct and not just a chunk of square wood that one would have to design to make it more presentable to the eye (such as the Gibson or Epiphone unit designs). All holes drilled properly, all the parts were present, strings were useless - they were all the same size. NO instructions.(Could be a problem for the beginner.) Wiring diagrams are available on the net, so it's just a bit of extra work to consult a schematic. Guitar to amp cord is of cheap quality but likely will work for the beginner. If this unit sounds as good as I feel the quality of the parts seem to be, this is an acceptable product for the money(which was less than nearly all the kits I considered). Only complaint I have, there is no instructions in the kit, so you have to track the wiring diagram online. But, the Gibson Les Paul design has two wiring possibilities. One for the 50's sound and a modern version. The neck is nice quality and straight. The wiring seems to be decent quality, too. Being a woodworker and always wanting a Les Paul, I was stoked to get this kit. I'm going to wait till the spring to start the finishing and assembly. And a note, the Mahogany is the back of the body, then it is laminated with a maple face. Mine has a really cool spalted figure on both the body and the head of the neck. Because of the figure and the spalting, I haven't decided what I going to do for a finish. I've got time to decide. ... show more

Quality wise it is pretty solid for the price. So far it seems that every piece is here that is needed to complete the build. The only negative thing I could say so far is that there are no instructions on how to put it together. It did take a bit longer to arrive, but I can't blame them for the delay. I'm very excited about this build kit. The neck fits securely and a good job of installing the frets. Just a single coat of sealer for shipment, this is ready to sand and apply finish. All the included hardware and wires look good. A nice binding on the top and bottom edges. The holes are pre-drilled, and everything is here, including strings. There are no kind of instructions so you will have to research how to wire the picks and pots. It's a good starter kit, the body has a good weight and feel to it. ... show more

I have built a few guitars over the years using scraps from various old guitars. I am familiar with the process, but the fact that there are no instructions included seems strange to me. That is the sole reason for the 1 star deduction. It also took about 2 months to arrive. The quality of the parts is top notch. Everything is predrilled and lines up perfectly. The body is very nice wood and very solid. If you play guitar, looking to learn guitar, or just like building things, then I definitely recommend this build kit. ... show more

This is so exciting. We got the maple one and we are just so stoked to be getting this. All pieces are touted nicely and there is everything you’ll need except the tools to put it together. No instructions either hahahahah. But honestly you probably shouldn’t be doing this is you have no clue how it goes together. Who needs stinking instructions??? Not us! ... show more
