  • Great Winch for Quadratec QRC bumper on my Rubicon 4XE
Read it all. First of all, I did have to modify the bumper for the Zeak Premium 13k winch. Hindsight (first time Jeep owner), I would modify the QRC bumper first before installing the winch. This winch is a standard bolt pattern & is about 2" narrower than the Badland Apex 12k winch. I used a Sawzall to cut the angles on the bumper. I also had to drill new holes 1" forward in order to put my grille back on. The Solenoid box does have to be loose to be able to get the jeep grille back on. This winch does come with a breaker & the Platinum model does not. I installed the switch & the 400amp breaker. The bumper is rated at 10,000lbs. I did install this Zeak 13k Premium first & the ground lug got stripped & non-repairable. Zeak was very good at responding & showed concern. They refunded immediately & sent a shipping label. I opted to get the Platinum because it looked like it would be a better fit for the grille/cables concern. The cables shoot down instead of straight back & is better & a cleaner install. The Wireless remote & cable work great & the wireless/cable lights are correct. I like the remote with the premium better ... it is 10 times smaller I cannot give any real world opinions on the winch'e capabilities, but the are others out there that have & it is a quality winch. Now about warranty ... it does come with a 1 year warranty. The Badland Apex comes with a 90 day warranty & the Warn winches come with a Lifetime Mech & 7 year electrical. For the price & the Quality, the Zeak is a much better option! ... show more

  • Works for what I need
I put it on a receiver mount with a long jumper cable with a quick disconnect. I've used it to pull some fire wood out behind my tractor. It pulled good but I feel that the synthetic rope would not hold up to a full rated pull.

  • Excellent value for a heavy duty winch
It seems to me that most winches in this size are imported and very similar. It wouldn’t surprise me if many of these similar winches are made at the same factory and branded under several different names. I went with the Zeak because they seem to be more than just an Amazon reseller, and have a website that offers a wide range of winches and accessories under the Zeak name. The reviews of their winches on Amazon were better than most of the other similar winches. I installed this 13,000 pound premium winch on a trailer and connected it to a stand alone deep cycle battery. It was installed inside an aluminum tool box mounted on the trailer and bolted to plate steel under the toolbox. The winch is very heavy and appears to be well built. It came well packaged and double boxed with no damage. The installation instructions are minimal, and you’ll be better guided by the diagrams as apprised to the written directions. I was impressed with the quality and finish of the winch and the accessories. The hook on the end of the synthetic rope is very substantial. Once you have a sufficient mounting location for the 4.5” x 10” bolt pattern on the base of the winch, installation is straightforward and quick. The wired remote seems to be good quality and worked fine. The wireless remote needs sync to the winch, which is very easy and the directions to do it are printed on the storage bag. Just press and hold the “in” and “out” buttons at the same time, and a light will come on confirming it is synced. The in and out functions on the wireless remote were just as responsive as the wired remote. It uses a CR2032 battery, and I will carry a spare in case it dies when needed. You always have the wired remote available. Overall, I am very happy with the build quality and operation of this winch, for almost half of what name brand (also imported) winches cost. ... show more

  • Pulled like a horse for 6 months, broke, they replaced!
**UPDATE** They sent me a new winch to make it right. Customer support required a video demonstration of the winch misbehaving, and some electrical testing. Then they replaced it with a whole new winch without too much hassle. Pretty pleased with that interaction. **Original review below** Wired and wireless remotes are great (though I lost the wireless one -- doh!). Wiring and installation were a cinch. Everything looked good. And the price was fantastic. I initially tested it by pulling my Xterra up a hill, dragging my friend's F250 on the beach with its brakes on, and freeing myself several times while snow wheeling. It didn't skip a beat. I was really impressed. Then a while later it limited out just pulling my Xterra while snow wheeling. Then it limited out pulling me out of some mud. It was obviously not pulling at full power any more. Obviously lasting more than 6 months is pretty dang important for an item like this, so this is a one star review. I'm working with Zeak support currently. Will update the rating depending on how that goes! ... show more

  • Customer Service went above and beyond
My installer installed the hot wire to the battery close to a heated hose and melted some of the rubber shielding exposing bare wires (possible fire hazard). My mechanic caught it doing some other work and disconnected the hot wire. I contacted ZEKE via Amazon and explained the issue that I needed a new control box in order to be able to use the winch. Once contact was made, ZEKE asked me to send them photos (reasonable) and explain the issue. ZEKE decided to send me a new control box for my winch. The control box arrived one day later and was installed. Thank You ZEKE Customer Service for keeping me updated via both e-mail and text on the next step along with your prompt action and resolution of my proplem. Keep up the GREAT Work!! G.S. • Great very powerful
Better have it hooked to a good battery takes a lot of power but will get you out of just about anything. Only issue I’ve had so far is I pulled the rope out to the end and it was not hooked well enough and pulled right of not to bad of a fix but not so fun to deal with when your stuck. Definitely would recommend it just make sure it’s hooked at the end before hitting the trails. ... show more
