Each unit features Series Wound motors which are extremely efficient at higher speeds and less prone to overheating compared to Permanent Magnet motors. Better still, Rough Country Recovery Systems utilize a 3-stage planetary gear train boasting a 265:1 gear ratio; allowing enormous torque in such a small housing. All Rough Country PRO winch systems include a replaceable Clevis hook for convenience. Rough Country Winch Cradle Hitch Mount | 2" Receiver Hitch - RS109 Black Featuring a 1/4" plate steel cradle and a standard winch mount bolt pattern, this universal winch plate allows for up to a 12,000lb winch from most manufacturers and fits any standard receiver hitch with a 5/8" pin. Unlike many receiver plates, this kit features a fully welded center bracket instead of a cheaper bolt-on plate, and is designed with 1" OD solid handle bars and powder coated hammertone black for year after year durability. I was shopping for a winch for my Wrangler. I narrowed it down between this one and a different brand that was 9500lb. They were the same price so I went with this model because it's 12,000lbs. I have other Rough Country products and have never been disappointed. This is a quality winch. Install was easy and it's more than powerful enough for my needs. There are other models out there that cost a ton more but this was the perfect balance between cost and efficiency for me. Only negative is it doesn't come with a wireless remote. Not a huge deal for me as I've been just fine without one over the years. In many applications, you're better off removing the bumper and installing this on the bumper and reinstalling them as a unit. I recommended this winch 100% ... show more

This winch feels solidly built. Everything works, although I haven’t used it to its fullest potential yet. Considering the first thing I noticed when it arrived was that it’s made in China and I had some real concerns. I had more concern when I noticed the load rating label. The first three capacities listed are in pounds and the fourth one listed is in Kilograms. Pics attached. I immediately contacted RC to let them know of the issue and was told they’d pass the information on. They need another layer of quality control before releasing to the public. I’m willing to give it an honest try before commenting on the overall quality. I’ll give it 4 stars unless it proves me wrong in the field. UPDATE: I initially bought this to use on a winch cradle and decided the cradle was more trouble than it’s worth and wanted it bumper mounted. If you want to mount the 12,000 lb winch in an Iron Cross brand bumper for a ‘16-‘18 Silverado, the first thing you need is a relocation kit for the solenoid. ... show more

Install was pretty easy. It took me about 2 hours on an 09 F-150 including the hidden mount. The winch works great on everything I've used it for so far. Moved fallen trees without a problem and has kept myself and some friends from being stranded on the trails. My only complaint is the lack of a wireless controller option. I have tried a few "universal" controllers without success. The lack of the wireless isn't affecting my overall review. This is a very good winch and priced right. R/C time for that wireless control.
