๐Ÿš€ Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The reviewed winch generally receives positive feedback for its strength, ease of use, and overall utility in situations like pulling vehicles out of trouble. Users appreciate the winch's performance and durability. However, criticisms focus on the winch's electrical components and installation process. The electrical cables and remotes are described as cheaply made, potentially affecting the long-term reliability of the product. Despite these issues, the winch's solid performance and capable handling of heavy-duty tasks are frequently highlighted.

Pros

  • ๐Ÿ‘ Works effectively for heavy-duty pulling tasks
  • ๐Ÿ‘ Easy to install and use, according to several users
  • ๐Ÿ‘ Responsive customer service for issues like remote replacement
  • ๐Ÿ‘ Strong and durable build for challenging environments
  • ๐Ÿ‘ Some models come with a synthetic winch rope that spools smoothly

Cons

  • ๐Ÿ‘Ž Electrical components, including power cables and remotes, are of poor quality
  • ๐Ÿ‘Ž Installation can be tricky due to misaligned holes and the need for additional hardware
  • ๐Ÿ‘Ž Lack of clear instructions for installation and operation in some packages
  • ๐Ÿ‘Ž Concerns about the longevity of the winch's electrical parts

Should I Buy It?

If you're in need of a winch for occasional, not overly technical use, and you're prepared to potentially upgrade some of the electrical components, this winch could offer good value. For those reliant on a winch for more critical, frequent use, the concerns around the electrical components might encourage looking at higher-end models. Evaluate your needs and capabilities when considering this product.

Didnโ€™t come with installation instructions and online videos show older version. Appears to work well, took longer than expected to install. My after market bumper, I had to remove top bar to install.

  • A seemingly sturdy winch, with the cheapest electrical parts ever
Color: 12000LB
Got this for my tj wrangler, and it seemed like a good bargain. Winch is heavy, seems to be constructed nicely, and I have used it already to pull a 3/4 ton truck out of the sugar sand, he got stuck in. This Main issues with the winch, are electrical related. First and foremost, the "power cables". Never in my life have I found a cheaper, flimsier, more poorly built set of "cables" in my life. I trimmed the red power cable to fit, and the crimp on a terminal. The "cable" is super-flimsy, so I decided to cut open the piece I trimmed off, to see what was inside. Imagine my surprise/disappointment to find a bunch of loose wires, just laying inside the jacket. They aren't twisted, braided or otherwise compacted together to form a cable. They are literally just a hollow tube of red plastic filled with loose, bare wires. The first time these get a serious load on them, they will start individually melting, and the "cable" will fail. That is the secret to the flexibility, there is no cable here, just a tube of loose wires, as thick as strands of human hair. SERIOUSLY. The remotes, previously mentioned by multiple posters, are cheap, junky plastic, reminiscent of a cereal box toy, or a cheap party favor given out at a kids birthday party. They are absolute garbage. After a single use, one of mine died, so i had to use the spare. (Obviously the reason for 2 remotes in the first place, they know they are junk) I have a battery disconnect switch between the winch and battery, for safety and to ensure this thing doesn't drain my battery, due to failed electronics. I am going to rewire the entire winch, from battery, to and including, the relay box, with actual battery cables, and see how it will perform then. The last pic shows the bolt for the Fairless, mounted to my Hooke Road bumper. After tightening the bolts (with blue Loctite added) I had to use the death-wheel, and cut the bolt off flush with the nut, to mount this winch. Look closely, there's enough clearance for a credit card between the bolt and winch frame. It's tight, but it will fit. I did get a cover for it too, mostly to help protect the synthetic line from UV damage. For the money, it is a solid winch, it just has craptastic electronics. I would have gladly paid more, for real cables, and a remote that didn't seem like a poor kids favorite cereal prize. ... show more

  • Top quality for the money

Purchased the 12K back in April of 2021, have used it several times and have no complaints at all. Would purchase it again when I need another one.

  • The company doesnโ€™t support after purchase.
Color: TANK12000
I donโ€™t usually write reviews, but Iโ€™m frustrated. This winch worked great once. Then we got hit with 2 hurricanes. My jeep was totally destroyed but the winch survived, so I put it on my new Jeep, but the remote was lost and you canโ€™t use it without the remote. Iโ€™ve been emailing the company four times and no one will respond. So Iโ€™ll have to buy a new one and will buy from a different company. ... show more

  • Initial review
Color: TANK13500 RED
I just installed this and it seemed very straight forward, for me. I have installed a few of these over the years so it was fairly simple to install. The package came intact without any damage to the box or the internal items. All items were there and has a great booklet with decent instructions. I like the design and how it fit into the rig. I will be testing this out in the next few weeks and will come back and update my review. The only question/concern I have is that the wired/wireless controller is one in the same and seems to work great. They sent a battery that I assume is for the controller and the controller is already working wireless....the only question that I have yet to answer is "How do I charge the battery for the controller?". There is nothing in the documentation that speaks to it, if the extra battery is for the controller (logic says yes), how long the battery will last. The concern here is how does one keep the spare battery with you and not lose it and how long will the wireless last? Can you buy spare batteries for the controller? I will try and add some pics shortly. ... show more

Looks great and works great the only thing that brings it down to 3 stars is the plugin controller only work coming out, but not going back in. But the wireless controllers work perfectly

I took a chance with "new in used condition" for cheaper. Saved me a couple hundred dollars, the winch was unused and never mounted. All bolts and packaging was there and unopened. Used the winch 4 times now and it's badass! Had it for a little over a year. Would definitely buy another
