  • Excellent product. I'll let my video "speak" for me.
Size: W / HALO BARS + FOLDIO360
The media could not be loaded. This is a fairly complicated product, so I've posted a video review. In summary, it does what it's supposed to do, and does it VERY well. Wasn't too long ago you'd pay thousands of dollars for something like this. It's easy to set up and use, but there is a learning curve, and the only real way to advance up this curve is to do a bunch of scans. I've scanned a LOT of things while figuring out the best way to use the Foldio. :) In summary, if you sell things on eBay, Craigslist or have collections of items that can benefit from being scanned in 360 degrees, get this product. You won't be sorry. ... show more

  • It's a good idea with a poor quality
Size: W / HALO BARS
I really want to like this light tent. It fantastically easy to set up, it takes minutes, and it folds so small it's easy to find storage for it. The photos are very comparable to any other light tent on the market. My favorite light tent is a bit big and takes awhile to set up so it's not good for quick photos. Sometimes I had to miss out on listing an item a day sooner because I just didn't have the time to set everything up. This fills that gap by providing a quick set up and smaller footprint. The halo bars provide excellent fill light to the front of the item, though I found I still needed to grab a little reflector for some items, depending on the shape. I grabbed a couple neodymium magnets so I could secure the halo bars in more positions that just the side or setting on the ground, this worked well for my needs. However, the quality leaves a lot to be desired. The material is essentially a corrugated plastic cardboard like material. Mine arrived already with a few dents in it, luckily they're just cosmetic, but I'm sure more will follow. The absolute most INFURIATING part of this product is the dimmer switch that everything plugs in to and the cords. The cords come loose at the slightest touch, I have started using masking tape to help avoid some of the worst of it, but it still happens. The cords are also not long enough to tuck out of the way, they're barely long enough to make it out of the other side of the box, and the 2 cords from the halo bars + the cord for the box itself is kind of a lot to manage when they aren't long enough to be flexible and all need to plug into the same place despite coming from different areas. Which wouldn't be such a huge problem if any tiny bump to the cords didn't cause the light to flicker or go out entirely. There is a handle on it that I will likely remove because the ends poke through to the photo area. This isn't as noticeable when using a plastic backdrop, but with fabric I've had to pull it forward a bit to avoid seeing the bumps in photos. The white backdrop worked well. However the black one is unusable. It is a velvet material that picks up every spec of lint, but most frustrating it has horizontal lines that are very noticable when photographed and required a lot of editing to remove. If I want to use the rest of my backdrops with this tent, I'll need to attach velcro to the back of them or rig up something with tape or magnets to make them work. I'm not a huge fan of that, but it's not the end of the world. All in all, it's not the absolute worst, but it's not great either. If I need to take top notch photos, I'm going to skip the foldio. But for quick and dirty it gets the job done with minimal set up fess. ... show more

  • The product is relatively well-made consisting of a light "plastic" cardboard like material and very well packaged
Size: W / HALO BARS
They say, "you get what you pay for" and that is true here, too. The product is relatively well-made consisting of a light "plastic" cardboard like material and very well packaged. The lighting options are fantastic, enabling you to tailor your light source. The fact that it is portable, but a little bulky, adds convenience. My only complaint is the black back drop, which I need the most, is a sort of velvet, swedish material, from which it's almost impossible to eliminate lent. My products sit low, so I cannot help but pick up the back drop in the photo. The photos attached show this. I have had to order a black acrylic plate, to compensate. ... show more

  • Impressive quality, intuitive design and worth the expense.
Size: W / HALO BARS
I am not a professional photographer. I am, however, experienced enough to know a bit more than the basics. My wife detailed me to select and purchase a table top photography studio to gift to her father, who crafts various types of jewelry. Challenge accepted -- not that I had any choice. My father-in-law is an amazing person with an impressive range of knowledge, skills and experience. (Honestly, he's a godsend when things break or I need help with any construction task.) However, he's not a tech guy and he's not very experienced in photographing small things (like jewelry). Given his developing interest and skills handcrafting jewelry, he's been asked to photograph items he's manufactured for sharing, exhibiting and marketing. Having nothing but a decent camera with a flash, the results have been a poor reflection of the quality of his hard work. A table top photography studio would be a real good tool for him, one that would surely provide greater opportunity for successful photographs. Like you, I looked at several available kits sold through Amazon. I also did some Google searches for the best table top photography studios. Time and time again, Foldio/Orangemonkie products like the foldio3 appeared on the list of top picks by professionals. Comparing the foldio3 to others that qualified for my short list of options-for-purchase, it seemed this was the one to recommend for the following reasons: 1. It simply is well-reviewed (4.3 Stars on Amazon) with reviews that include important considerations to me, including: A. Good quality and design for intended use B. It sets-up easily and it packs up well B. Includes good lighting that is adjustable and also backdrops in a variety of colors C. The cost (which is more than many) was worth it to many of the reviewers 2. The videos (in particular) and the photographs included on the Amazon product page were well done and provided to me a very good understanding of how the product assembles, how it can be used/adjusted, how it can be expanded (as a kit), and how it packs up for storage or transportation. This was an option my father-in-law could store easily, set-up easily and have everything necessary to take great photographs. 3. While the size capacity is much larger than necessary for most items of jewelry, I decided the size provided more options to him in the event he wanted to photograph either larger items or expand his kit to include the Foldio360 Smart Turntable or other accessories Upon receiving the Foldio3 with Halo Bars, my father-in-law excitedly assembled it and immediately put it to use. No instructions needed. This kit is very intuitive, very well designed and promotes success (in photography). While he was without his digital SLR and had only his (older) phone's camera, the results were immediately obvious: Much better photographs. Win! Win! My father-in-law is visibly pleased with his gift. My wife is pleased with me (for the moment). I should mention a final remark my father-in-law mentioned. While capable of accommodating larger items, the kit folds up into a very manageable and light-weight package for storage and travel. (My in-laws RV full-time several months out of the year. Space management is a very real consideration for them. This kit meets their discerning space and weight criteria, qualifying it as something he can take along and use whenever and wherever they travel. I will soon be retiring. Among the numerous tasks before me will be liquidating a number of items that we've inherited or bought or have been given that need to go. eBay and CraigsList will occupy me, and I'll need good photographs. I will be in the market for a table top photography studio, myself. As a discriminating buyer, I prefer top-quality products that get the job done. As a somewhat experienced photographer, I know what I need to get good results. I will most certainly buy this very same kit again -- but, this time for me. Therefore, I highly recommend this product to you and hope you find it equally worthy of a 5-star review. ... show more
