  • Delighted so far but need load test!
I have had winches on three different ATVs and two side by sides but never on a Jeep. Being a frugal guy I wanted to get the most bang for my buck when buying one for my 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Willys JL. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos and visited all the booths of winch manufacturers and distributors at the 2021 SEMA show in Las Vegas. I decided to get a 12000 pound winch with synthetic rope and remote control. I was told that a 9,000 or 10,000 pound winch would be adequate for my application but I wanted to go with a 12,000 pound unit to add some safety factor. A winch to meet my criteria was $600 at Harbor Freight, $1800 for a Warn, and $330 for a Zeak from Amazon! The price for the Zeak was scary low so I did some research at the SEMA show. None of the reps at any of the booths claimed to have even heard of Zeak! That didn’t add to my comfort level but after seeing that 75% of all the reviewers on Amazon gave Zeak five stars, I decided to take a chance. When I received the winch in four days I was pleasantly surprised to see that it had good packaging, workmanship, and adequate instructions. I saw where some reviewers didn’t like the instructions but no manufacturer is going to know your application requirements! That is where you need to go to YouTube. Another reviewer didn’t like the cables coming out of the back of the solenoid box. That could be a problem for some but I was able to get the cables in between the bars on the grill as shown in one of the attached pictures. It might also be a issue depending on what winch plate is used . Another small issue I had was not being able to route the positive cable to the battery where I wanted because it needed to be about 18 inches longer. I found another routing for the wire that works. It was more of an aesthetic thing rather than functional so I can live with it. The installation was easy and I ran the rope in and out to make sure it works. I have not tested it under a load yet and don’t know exactly when that will happen. I am not an extreme rock climber and don’t expect to have to use it often. My first use might be pulling trees and scrubs out of my or my neighbors yards. In any case, I will do video and share it with you as soon as a get to use it. It summary, I am delighted with my choice of a Zeak winch so far but some tests under load will need to be done to confirm my thoughts! ... show more

  • Great value, no complaints, happy customer.
This is not something I'm going to be using every day and is really just for emergencies so I wanted something more affordable but still had specific features like synthetic rope for safety and weight savings and also had a wireless remote control included since my application is recess mounted with limited accessibility. The physical dimensions were also very critical for me and this is a nice, compact unit for the load rating. Some other brands have integrated solenoid packs and they are just too bulky. I needed something that would let me choose which side of the drum the solenoid mounted to or possibly even remotely mount the solenoid pack. This purchase fit all of my needs perfectly and the only issue I had is I didn't initially read the note on the baggy the wireless remote was in that specifically says to hold the IN/OUT buttons together for 3 seconds to activate/deactivate the wireless remote so I had to contact Zeak with that question and they promptly responded and got me going again. One other key feature that I like about this winch is that it still comes with a hard wired controller if something ever happened to the wireless remote like being lost, broken, or batteries go bad just when you need it. I know some other brands that only come with the hard wired controller OR the wireless remote, not both, and it something happened to either one you had, you had no backup. Installation was a breeze with all the cabling and included hardware and I am really happy with how the finished product turned out. Thanks Zeak! Edit: added a pic of final install and first use positioning a 4,800 lb shipping container on a concrete pad. ... show more

  • Works and easy to install
The winch was package very nice. Directions where easy to follow and install was a breeze. When in free spool, the rope comes out nice and smooth. I don't feel any binding at all which is nice. No problems with the engage or disengage switch either. Love the hook matches my D rings. The all black design looks good. I do wish the black ground wire from the control box was a little longer. Operation check: The remote doesn't work. I changed the batteries and still nothing. I reached out to customer support. Waiting on a reply. When its plugged in works like a champ! Nice strong pull. Let's hope that when it's time to use this bad boy everything works haha. ... show more

  • Great powerful winch
I needed to be able to winch a Fire 8N tractor that had a bad clutch onto a trailer to move it. The decently long synthetic rope was more than enough to reach the tractor. The tractor easily weighs 5000 pounds, so it was a serious pull. But it was able to pull it to the trailer and had the strength to slowly go up (and down to wiggle it in the right position/angle) without and major problems. I also had some tension on the tractor to the trailer/winch as I was moving it. It didn’t budge or break or tangle. It did it’s job. The connections and wiring are easy to connect. I would suggest getting a resettable in-line breaker fuse, which I will order today. Great purchase Note: it came with a wireless remote which I have not tried. The wired remote has a cable that is pretty long so I didn’t think I needed to use the wireless. Maybe the wireless would be necessary in case the rope breaks, and don’t want to be in the range of the whip back. ... show more

  • Beast pulling with it
I use it to rear bumper mounted to pull logs. It is a beast. Well worth it for the money. Tech support is very quick too. My only complaint is that the rope to drum retainer is worthless. It’s a sharp edge that will fray the rope and will not retain the synthetic rope well. Amazon sells a red winches plasma lock competitor. If you have synthetic rope, best purchase you will make before install to go with an awesome winch. ... show more
