There is a lot to like. It functions as advertised. After installing it in my 125 gallon tank I set the temp for 76 deg F. The display readout cycled to 76 and the current temp showed existing temp of 74. It took under ten minutes for the current temp to match the set temp. I haven't touched it since. Also, the matte black color of the heat guard helped it blend in. The cable length was long enough too. Finally, I have the height to mount it vertically but if I wanted to I could have placed it on its side. Nice option. ... show more

After an aquarium heater of mine failed after several years, locating a suitable replacement proved to be more difficult than I anticipated. I had 3 different brands that either didn’t maintain proper temperature or failed in a few weeks. This model is excellent on all counts. It is easy to set the desired temperature and the device maintains it. The digital LED display allows you to monitor its performance at a glance. The set temperature and current temperature are displayed and the times when the heater is powered is indicated as well. The water is kept within 1 degree F at all times. It seems to be built better than the others so I am hoping that it works like this for a few years. My only suggestion to make it better would be to include a method of mounting the display to the outside of the tank. I have taped it in place with clear packing tape which works, but I wish there was a suction cup or hanger or something included with the unit. ... show more

I have this in one of my 20 gal tanks. it works well and I do like the digital set for the temp. My biggest issue is that the control is in the middle of the cord. this makes it a bit awkward trying to find a good place to lay it as the power isnt too far from the tank.     • Finally found an external heater that my turtle can’t destroy!

I use this in a 125 gallon aquarium that is home to my 23 year old 11” red eared slider (an aquatic turtle). She loves to destroy these external heaters, so we decided to use an inline heater that she can’t get at. But when we upgraded our filter, it no longer fits. So, back to searching to see if any external heaters have improved. Found this, loved the fact it came with an exact fitting outer protective case, and decided to give it a try. OMG - she has TRIED and TRIED and not only can she not break it, but she can’t even move it - that’s how well the sanction cups work! I only need one of these heaters to keep the water at the perfect temperature (it exactly matches a very accurate external thermometer that we already had on the tank). And this is a 125 gallon tank that is full to within 2 inches of the top (she has a tank top enclosed basking area that she climbs into). I’d give this 10 stars if I could - this has just been a battle of wills with her for so many years, and I’m so happy we (perhaps? Time will tell…) are winning now ❣️ ... show more
