The Yost Vises reversible Mechanics vises are designed for customer that demand the best quality products available. Built from heavy duty 65, 000 psi ductile iron, these vises are designed for more rugged applications than traditional cast iron vises. For over sized projects, the main bar of the vise can be removed and inserted in the reverse direction. This increases the jaw opening of the vise by an incredible 4 inches. Imported

Big vise with a smooth enough action. No backlash to speak of when releasing a clamped part; the 5.5" vise I tried before this one had scary-bad backlash, so this is a relief and a huge improvement. This vise seems worthy of building into a workshop focal point. The double jaw extends versatility by enabling some huge clamping distances. The anvil side lips have just enough purchase that I could make a slide-on block from a piece of 3" thick plank, to use as a circular saw stabilizing base. I haven't done much yet to really use its clamping pressure, but already I've found the manufacturing/shipping oil & grease seems to be wearing out. Clamping some creased 20 gauge sheet metal to flatten it out, after 20-30 clamps over 15 min the action went from silky-smooth to kinda crunchy. Another reviewer said to tear down and re-grease as soon as you get it: I'd say this is sage advice and I'll be doing so as soon as I can figure out the best grease for it. ... show more

    • Amazing vise
This is a big vise with big features. The base is robust and the locks are positive and hold the vise very well. The big selling point on this vise is the reversible jaws. These are easily big enough to use as a U-joint press and for holding extra large items. Plenty of room to put on soft jaws, very nice anvil with plenty of power. Nice action, even better after lubing the screw. I'd like to see a nice brass sleeve bushing on the screw end, but the machining is nice. ... show more

He loves this vise. It is much heavier compared to the one he wanted. After researching I decided to get this from the warehouse and it was a great decision. He has a backhoe and needs something heavy duty at times and his older vise broke this summer. He has already used it to fix the tire chains for the backhoe and told me he was very pleased. ... show more

I bought this as a gift. He was beyond thrilled! He said it is the best vice he’s ever had. He bragged to his friends and family about everything he can do with this vise. It will be especially handy for sharpening blades, working on his different pieces of equipment.

    • Solid vise but not an anvil but built like one.
Wide throat reversible ,use it for pressing bushings ,holding larger work pieces. Great for mechanics ,blacksmiths & contractors.

    • Sturdy, stout, and extremely heavy duty.
This is the best vice money can buy. Very heavy duty. Once locked in position it doesn’t move no matter what. Not like other vices. This is a beast.
