I had to move several large rocks on my property. This little guy was like having three large humans help with the job. The drill hook up was very simple, my cordless Dewalt worked great as the power supply. The operating directions were simple and the intuitive design makes it very easy to set and release the wire cable. I have a come-along but the cable is way too short. The 40 foot long cable is great! I haven't used this for lifting heavy items off the floor in my garage, but it will be in the future now that I have it. 750 pounds is right in the middle for a lot of jobs. Anything over 500 lbs would need a heavier hoist in my opinion. A drill should be 18 volts if lifting heavy items >100 lbs. A 14 volts will pick up lighter loads <100 lbs. The payout/disengage knob is very stiff at first. Needs slight lubrication and some operating to free it up. The gearing is good, and understandably slow, so get something else for snatching or speedy lifts. Good household/light lifting hoist. This is a good winch for pulling about 300 lb but any more than that your drill will strain to pull it and may burn out. I'm using a 24 volt brand new drill. Make sure you put the drill on low speed if you're pulling something more than 200 lb. I used this for lifting 120 lb and it lifted it without a problem. You can also hook up any other gearbox to this winch instead of using a drill. I hooked up a worm gear motor and it was very powerful and super quiet. We had to remove the 250 pound firebox from our wood furnace out of our basement and up a 45 degree staircase that’s 14 ft tall. We tried a block and tackle to no avail so I bought the Baby Winch. The winch is small and just the right speed for moving, loading, shifting heavy water heaters, boilers, and the odd rabbit hutch. I bought a second one so I can have two directions of force.

You need this! Before I purchased I read the reviews biggest concern was that it was slow. I disagree I think it works exactly as it should for speed. The concept is great and there is a lot of power needed to turn this. I recommend electric drill or a 24v heavy duty one because the duty cycle needed for this is significant. It would be ideal to be able to use this on a trailer which needs a little more than 750 lbs to pull up a car or even some equipment. So there are limited places where 750 lbs is ideal and sufficient. It is also very heavy for the size to weight pulling power. It takes a good second hand to set up this and then to operate it it will need to be suspended or hanging in place. As far as operation, it does work and it will pull light materials in, but like i mentioned, it needs to be stronger to get 5 star rating. ... show more
