  • Well designed product that you didn't know you badly needed
I had to move several large rocks on my property. This little guy was like having three large humans help with the job. The drill hook up was very simple, my cordless Dewalt worked great as the power supply. The operating directions were simple and the intuitive design makes it very easy to set and release the wire cable. I have a come-along but the cable is way too short. The 40 foot long cable is great! I haven't used this for lifting heavy items off the floor in my garage, but it will be in the future now that I have it. 750 pounds is right in the middle for a lot of jobs. If I need more capacity, I'll get a bigger one. Right now this works fine for my purposes and the cost was reasonable. ... show more

  • When is a hoist not a hoist?
This is likely a lovely product. But the description is quite deceptive. It is called a YATOINTO Hoist portable drill winch. However, upon reading the safety instructions, one is warned that under no circumstances is this tool to be used as a hoist. Go figure.

  • Light Duty Winch
This winch makes a nice compact package to store in your trunk or pickup. Then you have it with you when you want to pull a piece of equipment onto a trailer, or say a heavy cast iron jig saw up a ramp and out of a cellar. It is easy to use, and, as long as you've remembered to bring your battery operated drill and a full battery, you're set to go. Well, you had also better have a length of chain, cable or some very strong rope to put around the fixed towing point to which you will attach the winch. The trade-off for this little device to be able to pull 500 pounds is time. It is very slow, but it works. I tested it pulling a power saw across my basement floor with the winch attached (via a rope) to a brick column. It did a fine job, but took forever to move it 20 feet. Fortunately, the 6 amp battery on my power drill was fully charged and up to the job. You do not want to over-stress a winch. The manufacturer's write-up prominently mentions a 750 pound number and use as a hoist, but the instructions clearly state it should never be used as a hoist and should be limited to loads of less than 500 pounds, A snapped cable can whip back and do great damage to human flesh, so one should take this limit seriously. Used properly, this is a good piece of equipment if you have a specific use in mind. I'd be hard-pressed to spend $100 on it just to have it around on the off chance it might come in handy, but if you do have a need, it will work for you. ... show more

  • Handy Winch for Portable Power Pulling
This little winch packs a punch! It's perfect for those times when you're in a tight spot and need some extra pulling power. The price is reasonable, and it gets the job done.

  • This is going in the car for emergencies.
YATOINTO Portable Drill Winch: Nice solid construction. Carrying handle makes moving it around easy. One hook attaches to a fixed object and the other hook attaches to the item to be moved. To attach to the movable item, pull a knob on the side of the winch. While it is pulled out, the spool with the cable can rotate freely as the hook is pulled away from the winch. Pushing the knob in will lock the spool. I attached my portable drill to the winch and started to wind the cable back on the spool. Everything went smoothly. The release knob on the side was confusing. The first try to release the spool, I pulled on the knob and it locked in the out position. The spool was free to spin. To lock the spool, I simply pushed the knob back in. I watch the video and it shows that the knob needed to be rotated clockwise or counter clockwise. If I rotated the knob counter clockwise the knob started to unscrew itself from the unit. At times a simple pull or push did not work without some additional pushing pulling and twisting. I will not be using this winch every day so the knob issue isn't that much of an issue for me. ... show more

  • Works well but slow
Let me start by saying I really do like this winch. Unfortunately there is some confusion about the capabilities of the device. The description talks about using it as a hoist but later says it is not to be used that way. Then it says the capacity is between five hundred and seven hundred and fifty pounds. The problem is how is the capacity calculated? Usually it’s based on rolling resistance but the description shows a five hundred pound box and then it appears to be loading a car on a trailer. Suffice to say it has good pulling power and by using a snatch block you can basically double that power. The good news is that you can move quite a bit but just don’t expect it to pull as quickly as a regular winch. This is truly portable and doesn’t require any special mounting hardware or power only a drill. Moving an occasional load can be done relatively quickly but if you need to move a number of logs for example it would take some time. ... show more
