  • Perfect for Tesla Model 3 Roof Racks
Exactly as advertised. Took 2 bikes (25lbs) ea on a 600 mile drive to Lassen. All was well made. Took additional safety precautions and bungee cord them. Used on a Tesla Model 3 with Tesla own roof racks. No problems! No Cracking noises. 👍🏼 two 👍🏼 thumbs up ‘

  • Check your crossbar spread!!!
I'm sure the rack is fine... but the max crossbar spread is 36in... wtf. My 2016 Tucson (not a big car by any means) crossbars are at a min install of 38 inches... Gahhh.

  • Great roof bike rack...but I returned it...
Did a lot of research comparing roof racks, Yakima vs Thule models, and settled on the HighRoad mount. It was pretty easy to install and when I put my road bike up into it and tightened down the front holder, it was uber secure. No qualms about how it would hold up on the road. One thing I should have factored in was that I was hoping this would be a rack I could easily take off (as I use my car for work purposes and did not want to leave as rack like this attached all the time) without too much trouble. The rack attached to my OEM aero roof rails in about 5 minutes but I was not too keen on having to readjust and remount everytime I wanted to head somewhere for a ride. Additionally I am 6'3'' and had to use a stepstool to get up tall enough to mount the rack and secure my 60cm bike. The rack is well made and definitely solid, just after discussing it with my wife I returned it for a hitch mount rack (so we both can load and unload our bike). I opted for a Curt 1 1/4 inch hitch that fits my 2017 Forester and went with the Sagman Chinook rack. My advice...consider your hitch options if you are going with a roof mount. I thought the roof mount was going to be cheaper (I bought 2 of the HighRoads) but it turned out once I discovered non-Yakima or Thule brands and how well they are rated, the cost was considerably cheaper with a hitch mount. Going to DIY the hitch installation to the car and no longer worry about trying to get bikes up on the roof. Best to you! ... show more

  • High quality, easy loading/unloading. Accomodates up to 3.25" width tires!!
Grabbed 2 of these to replace the Thule Big Mouth (aka OEM Honda) bike racks I had on my Element. I just purchased the wife and myself 27.5plus bikes with 3" wide tires, and needed new racks that would accommodate the much larger tire width. These Yakima Highroads are fantastic, very easy to install, and much easier to load bikes into without having to deal with the downtube grabber of the racks I had (and no more scratched paint on the bikes). They are a little bulky, but are pretty low to the rack and the sleek styling makes up for it. Don't forget to grab locks for both locking it to your crossbars, and for the integrated bike lock. ... show more

  • These rock!!
Got a new 2017 Specialized EPIC FSR World Cup Carbon 29", I didn't want to put on existing hitch mount, it was awkward and was concerned with damaging the frame. The rack came quickly, 2 days for standard shipping. Had it adjusted and mounted in less then 30 minutes w/bike. Skeptical at first, On my 1st drove I was driving North in AM so it was nice I could see a shadow the whole way!! Used 4 times now and no issues. These rock and well worth it, get the locks with it. Put on a 2017 Explorer with no issue, only item to note is I am 6' and right at level to mount bike w/o stepping up in door jam. I lift the bike by the crank arm and the front shock and it goes right in and I hold the crank arm and the retaining bar click in place and holds without issue while screwing it in place till it clicks. The screwing mechanism is quick and is not hard to secure. ... show more

  • Easy to use for many different bicycle types
It has been a long while since I've used roof-mounted bike racks. At least 15 years (and that ended when I forgot the bikes were on the roof). I've used trunk racks and hitch racks that rely on the bikes hanging from the top tube. This Yakima is far superior if you have unusual frame geometry, kids bikes, or delicate carbon frames; there is no contact to anything other than the tires. Big upvote there. Actuation is also straightforward and I've put heavy full-suspension bikes, bikes with disc brakes, kids bikes, fat or skinny tires, and carbon road bikes on the roof with absolutely no clearance issues yet. That ticks all the boxes for me. Hoping I don't forget I have bikes on the roof again... ... show more

  • It's already broken
Well it worked since I had it, and did what it was supposed to do. No issues. But I've probably had to take it off my roof rack about 3 or 4 times. Which may have been one too many times for it. The front right rivet does not tighten now so I cant use it. I got this in Dec of 2018. It is May of 2020. I will contact Yakima and see what they will say. Also I am responsible for shipping it to them which will probably cost $50 to ship to get it fixed. Which is something I shouldn't have to do considering how much I paid for it. Hope this helps. ... show more

  • Great Value
The media could not be loaded. I've seen roof racks costing hundreds and hundreds of dollars more.. this mountain bike is not going anywhere. The bike rack is securely fastened to the cross members there's no way it can fail. If that mountain bike comes off the top of that rack then the entire roof will be peeled off along with it!! But if you have an XL or XXL the wheelbase will be too long and will hang off the back .That's the only problem. This is such a value that I'm going to buy another one for my other bikes. But it helps to be tall to lift the bike on top of the car!! ... show more
