I guess I got pulled in by the marketing which is found all over the internet. Which is the likely reason you are here and reading this. I had no QC issues and decent support from the manufacturer. However the fundamental design is totally flawed. There is plenty of lumbar support sure but there is ZERO thoracic support. Compare the design to something like a Herman Miller Mirra. I haven’t tried that chair honestly but I read it’s design paper. It is what lead me to realizing what this chair’s fatal flaw is. See how that chair has a support that follows the spine from bottom to top. It at least gives you support in the upper thoracic spine. This chair offers nothing for you upper back at all. If you have a forward curvature there there is no structural member upon which you can curve it backwards. So if you wish to correct texting back/upper cross/hunchback posture this chair will not help at all. If anything it over supports the lumbar spine and tends to make the problem worse. Also the curvature of the back is fixed and actually pushes your shoulders forward relative to the spine. Talk to anyone knowledgeable about the spine and you’ll quickly learn this is the opposite of what is natural. Not many chairs if any offer a convex back up to address this however some chairs at least give you something flat or allow you to flex against it to develop a shoulder back posture. This chair does the exact opposite. Upper thoracic issues imho are a modem epidemic given our propensity to push the upper back and neck forward to use our phones. This chair does not help and actually makes it worse. The adjustments are nice and the arm rests are nice. That’s about all the positive I can say about it. But this chair is so poorly designed that it really should not be on the market. It’s all about lumbar and has nothing for the rest of your spine. What it does have is even worse than nothing. A chair back that curves your shoulders forward. There is no solution to this as there is no structural member against which I could put a can or a foam roller to push the upper spine forward. The chair would actually be better without everything above the lumbar support. Because everything above it actually makes you sit with a forward curvature. The worst thing is that it discourages proper shoulder back posture. You cannot sit properly in this chair. Very irresponsible design. Putting this out into the world is just wrong. From a public health perspective this chair should carry a warning. This chair was designed for looks and hype but it will ruin your spine. Please use if you want a hunchback posture. I learned a couple of valuable lessons for $1000. 1. Never fall for marketing. Be very careful if your search leads you to a product that is purported to be a solution. 2. Don’t believe high cost means that he design is appropriate for correct posture. The build is pretty good but the design is hopeless. 3. Don’t buy chairs without trying them for at least a week. This is hard and even still doesn’t really solve the problem. It took me over a year to realize the chair is the problem. You want to believe your $1000 chair is designed correctly and your mind will do anything to not blame it but sometimes it takes a while for the truth to set in. 4. Create a shortlist of chairs to try but immediately rule out those which don’t support the entire length of the spine. ... show more

I bought this chair for my husband as his Christmas gift. The assembling service is free with this chair. The gentlemen did excellent job. The pink blue color is light up his office. My husband tried it on and immediately was falling in love. When the gentleman finished all the work and cleaned up all the empty boxes. I told him that maybe we should save the boxes just in case my husband may want to return it later. Guess what? My husband said: I like it so much, I don't want to return it. Ha ha...... I bought this chair as a replacement for a desk chair I use everyday and have for years. I had heard good things about the xchair and at $1400 I expected a lot. The X3 did not deliver on so many levels. It was pretty easy to assemble. The chairs adjustments are not as marketed and feel cheap. The back support has 4 positions which at the perfect spot should place the lumbar support in the small of the back, it does not. For myself 5'6" or my husband 6'0". The back adjustment is so loose it moves positions with the slightest wiggle. Do you know how frustrating it is to have your chair knock itself out of position every 20 mins? I would have returned this chair if it was $200 let alone $1400. Lastly we elected to go with the headrest which was a mistake. The support only has adjustable height forcing your head in a forward uncomfortable position. This coming Monday I will be working with their customer service team on a return. I hope they do the right thing. Looking back I realized they throw a 30% restocking fee in your face many times as you ask questions and purchase. Could my experience be happening so often they have needed this strategy during the sales process? Bottom line is do not buy a chair unless you sit in it. In my opinion the Xchair is all marketing hype no comfort. ... show more

Pros: well designed, comfortable, reclines well, hefty and well built. There is an obvious difference between this and a 300 dollar chair, despite what some other reviewers are claiming. Cons: aluminum base arrived damaged with scratches and a gouge, chair started creaking loudly after about 10 days, headrest upholstery is noticeably crooked. Debating returning based on the out-of-box issues I experienced, but the chair is comfortable and definitely would have kept it otherwise. Please note I left a similar review on x-chair's website, and despite being accepted, it has not been published. X-chair apparently cherry-picks reviews to publish. UPDATE: Returned the chair, but it took 3 weeks after receipt to get a refund. In fact X-Chair couldn't get it through the receiving process in that time and I had to resort to my first ever Paypal dispute case to get the refund X-Chair had agreed to. X-Chair continually made promises to make a refund in 5-7 days, but would fall through, and then promise again a 5-7 day refund. This company is a clearly a mess, and wouldn't trust it at the level of their more well known competitors. ... show more

I purchased an X3 with foam seat but without the headrest for my home office about 9 months ago. I know from experience that chairs and couches work out best when you can sit in it for a while. These days that is not always an option. I use the chair for maybe 3 hours at a time and it is comfortable and the memory foam seat was an excellent choice. After a few months I unexpectedly received a box from XChair containing five blade wheels. What a difference. I glide over to the the printer effortlessly.
