    • Very comfortable chair for TALL big people

UPDATE: I've been using the chair for about 6 weeks now and it's great. I've kind of settled into it a bit, so it's conforming to my body better but hasn't lost any support. Very comfortable for long days, no pain at all. All the bolts seem tight and nothing is showing any immediate wear. I anticipate this chair being perfect for my WFH desk job for a long time. It's day 1 with this chair, so I'll update my review later if my impressions change, but here's what I've noticed: First: This chair is comfortable. The seat is as padded as it looks in the picture, the back holds you at a good angle and is comfy to lean back against. The chair rocks easily with just enough degrees of motion to be comfortable without making you feel like you'll fall backwards. It's cozy but not hot to sit on. Overall, it feels great. Something to note: This chair is for TALL people. I am 5'10" and even I have to scoot back a little bit when I sit in this chair. It sits high from the floor even at the lowest setting. The good news about that is you'll never have to worry about sinking when the hydraulic fails someday. For most tall people, the lowest setting is still perfectly fine. I personally cannot imagine using the highest setting. The cushion at the front does its job of supporting my legs, but it also is the reason I have to scoot a little bit to get all the way in! The rubber castors are absolutely silent and roll extremely easily. It does seem like they also add to the height a little bit, so perhaps this could be changed if you didn't want to sit so high. Construction of the chair was mostly very simple. The one thing I'll note is that when they say not to screw in the bolts all the way until you get everything lined up, they mean it! If you tighten everything all the way as you go, you'll find the last two bolts at the bottom of the back of the chair impossible to line up. Give it some breathing room until you get all the bolts partially in. Here's another caveat for anyone it applies to - I love this chair, but if I could change one thing, I wish the arms were another inch further apart. The seat itself is 23" wide, but the arms are bolted close-in so they are only 22" wide. This is mostly fine, but I am a big woman with very wide hips, so my thighs press into the arms a bit. This is NOT painful - I feel fine - but I worry about eventually pushing the bolts out where the arms are attached. So I'd recommend this chair for anyone who can comfortably sit in chairs of 22" width, and are between the heights of 5'8" and 6'4". The weight capacity feels correct. For reference, I am 350 pounds with my weight carried mostly in my hips. If your weight is in your stomach you'll be slightly more comfortable than a pear-shaped person but ultimately I think it's fine either way. ... show more

    • Comfy for big butts and hips!

It took me just under an hour to assemble by myself. I’m your average female, not someone who puts things together like this very often and I have long nails - didn’t break a nail and had no trouble with instructions. You get the tool and all the bolts needed and the assembly instructions are excellent. I have wide fat hips and a fat butt and I fit so comfortably in this chair. Usually office chairs squeeze me but this one does not. I am not even close to the weight limit on this chair so it feels very sturdy. It rolls amazingly smoothly on these rubber casters. Very smooth swivel. Arm height is not adjustable though so if that’s important to you, this may not be for you. For me they are just fine because I type all day and my elbows can rest lightly on these. I am 5’7” and sitting in the chair at the lowest seat height, my feet can sit flat on the floor and my knees are bent at probably 85 degrees. I do use a foot rest to keep my feet propped up for circulation reasons so this height is great. For someone taller you could adjust the height but if you’re shorter than 5’7” you might have dangly legs. I especially love the front part of the seat being able to touch the backs of my knees, and that’s because there’s enough depth to accommodate my big bottom. Most office chairs I end up far forward because the depth isn’t made for a larger person. And the seat width is great as well, I have very wide hips and there’s no pinching. The seat back is high enough that if I let my head rest on it there is still an inch of chair back above the top of my head. I like the faux leather material (I chose the ivory color) and hope it holds up well, time will tell. I work from home 3 days a week so we will see how it goes. If I remember I will write an update after I’ve used the chair for a bit. ... show more

    • High Comfort but Limited Durability: A Two-Year Experience with This Office Chair

I purchased this chair in October 2022, and it served me well until June 2024, when it ultimately broke. Initially, the chair was excellent, offering remarkable comfort and relaxation. However, over time, it began to deteriorate. The chair itself, while very comfortable, was somewhat fragile. The wheels would slide even on rugs and carpets, and occasionally, the chair would tip over when I leaned back due to its inability to support my weight adequately. When fully assembled, the chair is relatively heavy and may require two people to lift for those with limited strength. The assembly process was manageable, though somewhat frustrating, particularly when attaching the armrests. Additionally, dust tends to accumulate in some hard-to-clean areas. Around the second month, the chair began to squeak intermittently, and this issue persisted until it broke. When the chair finally failed, the right armrest snapped off, causing me to fall backward. My legs struck the desk, and both of my monitors fell on top of me. Despite these issues, I found the chair to be quite satisfactory, and I might consider purchasing another one. However, the most significant drawback was the instability of the wheels, which was a consistent annoyance. ... show more

Bought the chair some time ago, it's great! Very comfortable, I'm quite tall and heavy and this chair holds me up just fine, I must sit on the chair weird and at an angle because the right arm of the chair ended up wearing out and breaking BUT I contacted support about buying another right arm for the chair and instead they responded quickly and told me they will send a replacement arm free of charge. Overall, fantastic chair and in a world where it seems like customer service falls short, HAMAOKA does not. couldn't recommend enough ... show more
