The X-BULL New 6000LBS IP68 Waterproof Electric Winch appears to be very well-made, especially as winches go in this price range. It is also compactly built, and is small enough for me to install it in a concealed location on top of the front hitch frame on my pickup. At 6,000 lbs. rating, it is adequately-sized to get me unstuck in usual situations, although would possibly be undersized for more demanding applications with a full-sized truck. The waterproofing on this winch also helps ensure that it can sit unused for a long time in its concealed location, and still work when I need it. You can see by the attached pictures that the winch is designed in a way that keeps it relatively compact. It's long and narrow, the gearcase and clutch housing being not much bigger than the spool. The remote transmitter is quite robust compared to other winches I've used, and the reversing relay is compact, but also appears to be well made. There's really nothing "cheap-looking" in the box. The only thing I wonder about is that the hook is labeled "1/4" and "G70". The resources I have say that such a hook has a safe working load of 3150 lbs., considerably less than the rating of the winch. I'll probably install a larger hook. The "1/4 inch" rope measures about 3/8 inch when not under load, and actually looks to be closer to 5/16 inch to me which, again, seems more consistent with the winch's rating. I like this package as it simply has everything you need to actually have a winch installed completely the same day you start. The winch has a rotating gear lever on one end, a 1/4 synthetic rope, a Hawse fairlead, stainless thimble, a G70 marked (rated?) hook, mounting plate, all the wiring/cabling needed as well as a tube mount remote and a wireless one as well. Price point under $240 is solid deal for your SxS, heavy quad, CUV, car trailer or any place where a 6,000 pound rated winch is desired. The name brand is over four times the cost. Just be aware this is not designed for rigs that weigh more than 3000-4000 pounds. Good for a Subaru, sure. Good for an F250, no. Otherwise, an inexpensive but complete package. ... show more
