I replaced the seal around the door but the fire was still burning too fast/hot in our wood insert. I pulled the door and inspected around the glass. The seal looked rather flat and likely needed to be replace...yep it was toast. I wasn't 100% sure this was the right stuff to use, but affordable enough to give it a go. Being 1 inch wide I started on the edge of the glass then folded over on the front and back. The tape is sticky and 'burns' in place, although we had a couple spots on the inside of the glass that did not attach perfectly. However the edge and exterior of the glass sealed perfectly. With the exterior and edges now sealed, my fire burns nice and slow, and I would say we are nearly doubling our burn times for wood. Love that low slow burn heat it gives off (cats love it too). I can add a couple of logs at bed time and wake up to a warm house in the morning. ... show more

This self adhesive gasket was really easy to work with. I needed to replace the gasket around my stove window. I removed the window, cleaned it up and starting at the bottom middle of the window, pressed the gasket around the edge. It was nice and sticky. so once placed it didn't move unless I pushed on it, trying to keep the edge even all the way around the window. It was just the right thickness to put back into the door and create a nice seal against the door frame. ... show more

Using on burn grate against hopper in coal stove. Really had my doubts when ordering, I knew what size I needed and all, just not sure what type of quality I might get ordering online. I was impressed! Perfectly shaped gasket very well packaged and 3M adhesive. Way more then I needed at the time but I actually put the rest in safe place for next time. Tape was easy to apply to our fireplace glass, but we've been running our fireplace off and on for days and the smell from either the tape or adhesive backing is horrible and not improving at all. Our fireplace does not come close to the max temp this claims it can resist so we know that is not the issue. Wishing I would have purchased from a local fireplace retailer rather than Amazon.
