This 1" door gasket isn't wimpy. If your stove calls for 1" this will do the job and will not squish down to nothing when you close the woodstove door. That said, I actually used this for a different purpose. Previous owners had stuffed fiberglass insulation around a fireplace insert to cut down a cold breeze between the insert and the mantel. It didn't really do the job, and my cats loved to try to pick out. This gasket made the perfect fireproof replacement to neatly fill that gap, and will be easy to remove in the future should the mantel or entire insert be replaced. ... show more

I have bought sealing rope for my wood stove door before and this material seems so much better. It is firmly rolled and does not compress easily. It is an actual 1" in diameter rather than 7/8" and they call it 1". They just include the rope, which is plenty long, so you will need to get some heat resistant glue or epoxy to affix the rope to the door. No big deal. ... show more

I ordered this fiberglass door gasket to help seal around the pan of my maple sap evaporator arch. The gasket works well for that, and likely would work well for its intended purpose. I will note that it is a consumable and will break down over time, especially in the presence of a hot fire. The variety of thicknesses let you pick the right size for your needs. ... show more
