I can fit 36 small animals in the shelf if I don't squeeze them in, more if I do. It's perfect for my craft show booth. It will make it easy to load/unload for shows. If Using for Actual Kitchen It is not heavy duty. I do not suggest storing lots of canned goods or anything heavy in these little baskets. I don't care for this stand at all. I would not repurchase or recommend it. By the time I opened the box & put it together, it was past the return timeframe. It was easy to put together but it isn't sturdy and the wheels suck.
