  • Easy set up and saves me time
Style: WiFi-2 Outlet
Have a big lawn and this was and easy set up to get my sprinklers going with the use of my phone. I was worried about the Bluetooth reach but sure enough I have connectivity throughout my house.

  • Easy to use, 1 line watering timer. Has many options/settings
So far, this is working really well. The pictures show the timer directly screwed onto a hose bib/faucet. I have mine further down the 'line'. Have a 4 way manual splitter on my spigot, then a small hose, then this timer, then a soaker hose zone. Works well so far, no issues. The screw on/off points are black plastic, so don't over tighten. The whole thing is pretty heavy, especially after you put the AAA batteries in it. Since I have it at some distance away from the spigot, mine is under a decorative rock. The black plastic will likely stand up to more UV than others, but I still keep mine covered. The battery compartment has a silicone seal, The inlet has a silicone washer and metal mesh filter. My standard garden hoses thread on just fine. Programming is a little tricky, especially if you've never had one of these timers before. Just follow the instructions, and use common sense. The instructions are a fairly decent translation into English, you'll want to read them. The timer must be set to ON in order for it to actually follow your programming. There's a manual 'override?' option as well, if you decide you need to throw in an extra watering. Put the batteries in, set the date/time and program what you want. Easy. Note: you'll want to be sure that the timer is not sitting IN water, or facing up so that water pools on the front surface. Common sense. Only downside is that the programming dial sticks out a bunch. On one hand, that's good as it makes it easier to turn the dial and program the timer. However, it can be a potential pain as your hose could catch on the protruding dial (just position it appropriately). Small footprint, good fit and finish, works well. Tip: program it BEFORE threading it into/onto your spigot or faucet. The LED screen can be hard to read at certain angles/light - which is typical. ... show more

  • Not my fav, but not bad either
It works. It does exactly what it's supposed to. I'm not convinced of it's accuracy though. For reasons that I have yet to figure out, when I use this timer i come home to standing water around my garden beds. When I use another timer, programmed to the exact same specs, I don't end up with standing water at the end of the day. Both are programmed to turn on at 8:30am each day and water through my drip lines for 25 minutes. This is not much water and should not lead to standing water still at 5pm. I'm still trying to figure that out, but it's obviously something to do with this particular timer. I've sat outside and watched and timed them both and haven't seen anything off. It turns on reliably each day at the correct time, and runs for the programmed amount of time, which is the most important thing. Programming wasn't difficult. Turn the knob through the settings and program as you go. My other timers have all the settings on the screen and you just scroll through them. I've realized that I prefer scrolling on the screen versions over fiddling and fumbling with this low profile dial. ... show more

  • It will work
Style: WiFi-2 Outlet
It requires the Smart Life app. I already use that for other devices so that's a plus for me. It comes with three small strips of fold out instructions. None are really great for anything so it may take some time to get it figured out and connected. Once that's done, everything is fairly simple. The manufacturer would do well to lose this QUICK GUIDE, BLUETOOTH WATER TIMER AND BLUETOOTH GATEWAY and come up with one comprehensive manual that puts it all in the same bag and in proper sequence. When the app is running I keep getting a "Device Connection Failure" popup that requires me to view help or go back to the homepage. There are also some other little idiosyncrasies but they don't affect the operations of the water timer. It comes with a Bluetooth Gateway. I guess that's important but I still don't know exactly why. I have learned once you have it going, it's not necessary until you restart the app. This gateway is the thing that periodically goes into "Device Connection Failure" mode and then the water timer device goes into "timed out". It's not necessary to have a connection to the gateway to access the timer unless or until you restart the app. I have many wifi/bluetooth devices like cameras but none require a gateway. I have installed this water timer about 200 feet from the house. I'm not having trouble running the timer with my phone from 300 feet away or standing next to it but sometimes the connections require some jiggling. Maybe some of this is operator error but it's still quite simple to make the water timer do what you want it to do no matter where you are. You can push the buttons on the timer itself to start the water in manual mode. Push again to stop. This works the same as starting manual watering in either zone by using the app. The timer does work well with very low water supply so it should be good for long and slow drip sessions. Running low and slow will get the job done without working your water pump too hard. I plan to use this to run two zones on a 3000 ft² pepper patch. There are some idiosyncrasies to work out but I do believe it will work perfectly for me and do exactly what I want it to do. I like it. A lot. ... show more
