I recently purchased the Upgraded 200A Welding Machine, and while it’s a decent option for beginners or light-duty projects, there are a few key aspects that hold it back from being a top-tier product. The 110V input is convenient, as it works with standard outlets, meaning no special wiring is needed to get started. The inclusion of 15 welding rods is also a nice touch, especially for those just starting out who may not have everything they need yet. When it comes to performance, the machine does okay for basic welding tasks, particularly on thinner metals. The 200A output is sufficient for most small to medium projects, but I’ve noticed that it struggles with thicker materials or prolonged use. The machine tends to overheat relatively quickly, and while it has an auto-shutdown feature to prevent damage, the cooldown times can be frustrating if you’re working on larger or more intensive projects. How The Fat Rancher went so long without learning to weld, I can't tell you. Make no mistake, this isn't a "big boy" welding machine. In fact, I didn't even know that you could make a welding machine to work on 115VAC. But this unit does exactly that. I procured a welding hood (this unit does not come with one) and I was welding in five minutes. Was I "laying dimes?" No. That's why I didn't post an action photo! There's a reason good welders get paid a lot! But did it work? Absolutely. And that leads me to rate this product five stars. This welder came with almost everything I needed to get started. Cables, clamps, gloves, 1/16 welding rods, and a dinky little hammer/brush. Everything I need (except the welding hood) to get started. First of all, this is not a bad little welder for the sub-$100 price. Now to the details! I am new to welding, having struck my first arc just last year. My brother however is very experienced and skilled. I had him guide me in what to try out to understand this little welder better. His comment was that the brand name, "Ppizkk" is the sound it makes welding. True! Pros: - Small, compact, and capable of getting a decent weld. - Good price. - Comes with many things you need to weld, but low quality Not so Great: - Completely unnecessary USB port on the welder. - Chunky, oversized, ill fitting thin gloves. (more below) - Yes it comes with welding rod. Difficult to start and arc comparted to 6011 or 7014. Weird naming standard that is difficult to rate. - Barely effective wire brush/"slag hammer" Cons: - Odd plastic decoration on the gloves around the fingers. Melts! - Pretty low end ground clamp AND rod holding clamp. Thinner cables. - Short leads. Really short. Must have the welder practically on the work. - Doubtful amperage rating. Had to run most welds at higher levels than I "should" according to my brother's experience. The photos of the welds have several things going on. First, without removing the slag. Also a reverse photo to see how much burn through there was on some of the welds. Also, lots of details on the one photo of DIFFERENT RODS, DIFFERENT AMPS, DIFFERENT POLARITY, and finally, DIFFERENT WELDERS. My brother bought a "YES Welder" a few years ago as a cheap one for portability. About the same price. I am comparing with that since it similar. It will be seen in the pictures as the red/black one. Or in the weld plate as "YES" in red Anything above the Red Line is 6011 rod. THIS welder in green 65 amps positive and negative electrode. My brother's YES welder, outside welds as noted. (PLEASE NOTE that my notes told me that the top right weld is from the YES welder, but I don't know if that is the far outside or the weld real close to the other weld.) Below the red line is all with this welder with the different rod (except the one YES weld shown in red at 25 amps positive). All negative electrode, 45 and 65 amps as shown. The J422 and XG42 is the rod that came with the welder, the 7014 is some my brother had. (The weird spattered stuff on the far right.... I can't remember. I think it was running this welder at 25 amps sorry) The VERY bottom right start of a weld that burnt through is the YES welder at 65+. Hopefully that all makes sense. Here is what it means. My brother's YES welder was burning through sooner and at much lower amperages than this green welder. Also, this welder was a bit tougher to strike an arc with, but I am still a newbie to welding... The rod that comes with the welder is decent, but not great. Hope all this info is helpful! Despite all the above, I would recommend this welder as a cheap option, but there are other options out there too that are around the same price, but without rod and gloves, or as small. ... show more
