  • Ash tray too wide to fit inside tray slot
It's seems like a sturdy frame, will come in handy in an emergency to have a cook fire. The ash tray would not fit through the tray slot , I had to use pliers to make a very small bend up the edge of 1 side. It then would slide in but once inside it does not fit snugly, about 1/4 inch open space on both sides so it will not catch all the ash or embers so make sure you have a cleared space of dirt or a flat rock or steel plate to sit it on outside. Still all in all could one day be a life saver for a personal fire to warm yourself or heat up food or water. Fix the ash tray and I'll give it 5 stars. Comes with a wire string twig cutter which again if you have nothing else it's better than nothing. Metal tube to blow air to stoke the fire is a nice addition and the travel pouch comes in handy. Get rid of the sticky blue protective layer though it's not a deal killer. ... show more

  • I'm a Big Fan of the Folding Firebox Stove I had to give this one a try and its better in some ways
I have several versions of the Folding Fire box stove and I love them all, so this stove definitely caught my eye. The first one of these I bought on Etsy for $75 and I thought that was a good deal then, so when I saw the same one on Amazon for $22 I couldn't pass up the good deal so I started trying to justify having two, which was easy. It would be handy to have 2 of these in case I want to cook two things at the same time. Its study as heck but heavy and bulky, so its not something I would bring if space or weight were an issue. Fire box stoves are much smaller and lighter and that's part of the problem they all share, the space to slide wood in is very small, so you are limited to using skinny little sticks and twigs which burn really fast. You can't get good coals from twigs because they burn down to ash in a matter of minuets, so you are constantly shoving sticks in there to keep the heat up, and at times trying to maintain a steady temp so you can cook food in a pot or pan without burning it and if you are not constantly tending to the fire it might burn out before you are done cooking. This is where this new stove really shines, the bigger size makes it easier to use. I like the way the whole side opens up so you can put bigger pieces of actual split wood in there. The shelf helps hold longer pieces in place so you don't have to worry about the length of the pieces, just shove them in as they burn. Using bigger pieces of wood makes it easy to build up a good bed of coals so you are not constantly fighting to maintain a good cooking temp. The biggest complaint I see about this stove is its difficult to get all the blue plastic off, but this time it looks like they made an attempt to make it easier, by not covering the hinges and using seams to separate different sections, so whole areas come off easier. Also I know now not the stress on getting all the plastic off because whatever is left disintegrates the first time you use it. I had no bad smells or toxic fumes, I just noticed all the left over plastic was gone after the first use. This stove is also not as versatile as the firebox which has many different adjustments, and works with many different accessories so you can easily use many different types of fuel. On the other hand this stove does one thing really good, it burns wood or charcoal and its easy to keep the fire going because it accept bigger piece of wood. It's hard for me to believe that they can sell this stove for $22 and make any money, the quality is definitely there, this thing is not going to fall apart, it should last a lifetime. I was expecting the compact string saw but I also got a pocket bellows in the box making this an even better value. You really can't go wrong, its cheap, well made and it works very well for what its supposed to do. ... show more

  • This is a miniature camp stove that looks like toy
Stove is a miniature but seems sturdy when unfolded. Twigs, wood pellets & pine cones can be used as fuel. Stove might be used in an emergency but heat is limited. Stove does not meet needs. Buyer’s remorse. Keeping stove to teach youth in family about various camping stoves & fire safety while camping. ... show more

  • The Video Says It All - AWESOME!
The media could not be loaded. I have been teaching preparedness and survival skills for 23 years. Had many stoves but this by far is the BEST! The ability to totally fold up and its light weight is perfect! The price is within the ability for almost anyone to afford.

  • Almost great...
First off, for anyone that reads this and doesn't know... The ash plate goes in through the sides and is supported by the ledges on the front and back. I almost took a Dremel to it to make it fit in the front and realized I was wrong in assuming. After a couple uses now I can say I have no complaints other than the tedious blue film but it burns off easy enough so it loses a star for that. I'd buy again if needed but I think this will be hanging around base camp for years to come. ... show more
