As mentioned in other reviews edges had some burs. A file and 15 minutes took care of the burs. It took longer to get the blue plastic rap off. Manual does not include the size of nuts/bolts. That's ok I plan on replacing the bolts on the sides with bolts/wingnuts/lock washers and having a supply of extras when I misplace/lose any. The unit is in three sections, the feed (with flare) then two sections, each with riffles, angled mesh, miners moss and carpet. Feed section has about a 1/2 inch lip to get to the 2nd sections riffles, mesh, moss and carpet. Not sure if this is going to be an issue or not. Section 2 to 3 had a gap of 1/4 to 1/2 inch. I expanded the holes in the carpet,mesh to try and close the gap, again not sure if this is an issue or not. It came with a carry strap and a bag but I got rid of both as when folded it fits in a 5 gallon bucket. It looks to be sturdy enough for my needs. ... show more

We used this small sluice box in the river for some casual gold panning. It worked really well and we had so much fun panning. No gold, but not the fault of the box. We just didn't get the right spot yet.

It's not so easy to put together when it is missing pieces! This item required a trip to the hardware store in order to put together as it was missing some of the hardware. It is a good thing I attempted a preassembly at home before I went out to the field as the hardware store would have been over 2 hours away! It would sure be nice if there was better quality control when it comes to these products. Making sure the buyer has what they need in order to use it without making any special trips is paramount to a satisfied buyer. ... show more

When it showed up it was missing some of the hardware and the assembly tools provided were garbage. I went to the hardware store and purchased the missing wing nuts and washers so no big deal. The folding is nice for being compact. But that is also where the problem is as well. The inlet constantly moves changing your water flow which messes everything up. Also having to remove the inlet every time you want to fold it to store is a hindrance to productivity. ... show more

I bought this kit for a trip to California and this small kit was able to fit in my carry on luggage. The only gripe is that it didn't include the carpet that sits under the moss. Cheap enough to add but something to note. Otherwise it's great quality and size.
