  • SIZE 9 LADIES takes a SIZE SMALL.....NOT a medium
Color: Black Size: Small Style: Boot
I am a LADIES SIZE 9. The boot on the RIGHT is a MEDIUM and its the tall version. The boot on the LEFT is a size SMALL and the short version (best for foot and ankle surgeries). If I were a size 10, I might opt for the medium because, as you can see, as a size 9, my toes come all the way to the end of a size small. I am very happy with the small. I will be wearing this for 3 months, at least. I think the sizing they use is meant for men sizes, to be honest. A medium was in no way the proper size to fit my size 9 foot....I'd be tripping every time I took a step! All in all it was a great purchase and will serve me well. ... show more

  • MIRACLE ROBO-BOOT
Color: Black Size: Medium Style: Boot
Thanks to this boot I was able to heal so much faster while not giving up my life to do so. It is my miracle Robo-Boot. I fail to understand why hospitals and doctors aren't handing these out automatically. Crutches? What is there purpose beyond creating more misery, problems and pain? The ankle wraps cut off circulation so that wasn't much help. I kept getting elephant foot and ended up hurting my opposite foot / ankle in the process because I was putting all kinds of wrong pressure on it. It wasn't until I got this boot that I started walking properly and began healing! Yeah, the RICE method worked some but it only helped to a certain point. Sorry, but too many of us have too much going on like needing to take care of families or work and a sprained ankle, no matter how serious, can't stop life from happening. I'm telling you, this was one of the best investments I've made in a long while. It's mine now and I'm never letting it go but I'll share. ... show more

  • Good air cast, very comfortable, and short vs. tall boot details
Color: Black Size: Medium Style: Boot
This short air cast fits the same foot dimensions as the taller air cast from United Surgical. This is the short air cast from United Ortho/United Surgical and measures 13.5" from floor to top of highest point of its inside sock. The tall air cast is the "Stabilizer Air Walker Standard" from United Ortho/United Surgical and measures 17.25" from floor to top of boot. Otherwise the dimensions around the foot are the same. The weight is about the same for both boots (the weight is largely in the base of the boot). Both provide a sturdy, grippy sole and allow you to easily "walk" (actually limp) with your weight mostly in the heel of your foot. The short air cast does allow the ankle to flex more than the tall cast which really immobilizes the ankle well. If you need immobilization around the ankle area, get the tall cast. On the other hand, if you have something more toward the front of the foot, such as a metatarsal fracture, especially in the 3rd, 4th, or 5th metatarsal, the short cast works well without overly constricting your ankle. I have a displaced 5th metatarsal fracture, and I found this cast more comfortable than the Aircast brand for my particular injury. Unlike this United Surgical air cast, the Aircast brand air cast seemed to place more weight balanced toward the front of the foot, plus its "hang weight" on the front of my foot/metatarsals was too much. FWIW, my foot is a women's size 7.5-8 wide and I have the Medium size United Surgical cast in both short and tall boots. In both of these boots, my toes end about 2" short of the end of the hard sole portion of the cast. This is good, as I have banged the front of the cast occasionally and not had any issue with doing that. If my foot had been too close to the end of the cast, hitting the front of the cast on anything might have further injured my foot. Also, with the medium size there is plenty of room for my foot to swell without the cast being too tight. ... show more

  • As happy as you can be with a stress fracture!
Color: Black Size: Large Style: Boot
Thank you to other reviewers who gave information that helped me decide to bring this boot into my life. It is helping me heal and giving me peace of mind during the process. Most helpful was the personal reports on sizing. I am a woman who has size 11 shoes but buys running shoes a size up, either womens 11.5 or mens size 10. I have never considered myself a medium in anything! So I was tending to size large, which seemed a good idea based on most reviews. I am glad I went with the size large boot. Actually it fits just how I would like, not too bit nor too small. My toes do not stick out the front of the boot but they are coming to the edge of the inner soft wrap portion, which is comfortable. I have a stress fracture from running. It is on the inside ankle of my left foot. The first week, I had a lot of pain and some swelling, so I worried the boot would be too painful to wear if it touched the ankle at all. I put the cushioned inner wrap on extremely carefully and not very tightly. I was able to put the outer shell of the boot on without pain. Although I had very limited mobility the first week, to avoid pain, I felt the immobilization feature immediately started helping my ankle bone by reducing strain on it. My foot also felt protected. I felt less anxiety because my foot was enclosed in this giant pillow and protective boot. The boot inflation aspect seemed a mystery to me but reviews on the non-inflated variety of boot suggested some people wished they had gotten this version. My boot came with some inflation already happening. I deflated it gently to first fit it to my foot. I'd say I have not inflated it very tightly anyway. I just added enough inflation to cushion and stabilize my heel, so that there is limited movement of my foot within the boot. As for this being a "walking boot," that isn't as easy as it looks. I needed crutches to support movement. I guess you can walk on it as you recover more - or maybe it depends on the person and the injury. The boot is heavier than a snow boot but I didn't have expectations on this issue. I chose not to sleep in it, but wore it during the day for weeks. Overall I am super pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to people who think it will give them a better way to heal a stress fracture. I had a stress fracture 14 years ago and cannot understand why the doctor did not suggest a boot straight away. I don't see any down side. Ending pain and getting your weight off your injured foot is a sure way to assist healing. ... show more
