  • This is a great product for Zoom calls!
Style: Gen 2 Color: Black
This product works great as a portable stand for Zoom and other video calls. The elevated desk mount, although well meaning, means having to raise your arm to do iPad functions, which is not natural and fights against gravity. If you do this for any length of time i think your arm will start to ache. The only negative is that you need to use the provide Allen wrench to adjust the tilt arm. ... show more

  • #1 iPad Stand [Stiff arms] [Strong "jaws"] but [Hard to tighten] [Droops at low angles]
Style: Gen 1 Color: Black
[Note: used with iPad MINI 6] I am really glad I went with this stand, but I am also glad I decided to buy it on sale from Amazon rather than directly from Apple. I needed something that would easily let me position the iPad at all kinds of angles. I am in a long distance relationship, so this is incredibly useful for video calls. I can easily position it on the side of my nightstand to make it feel like my partner is falling asleep right next to me. I'm not sure if this is just an issue with my stand, but you are supposed to be able to tighten the screws on the arms for desired stiffness. I cannot tighten the first hinge anymore, but it is still drooping when the iPad being held closer to the base. Of course this is a more difficult position to hold with strength as the arm is also extended forward, so this might just be its limit. I'll also say that the apple pencil holder is kind of pointless since the magnet is not very strong. I wish it was all flat on the base instead. Even then, they could put a stronger magnet to hold the flat back of the pencil in place. I suppose if you use a different stylus it might be helpful, but it's still not deep enough to hold anything firmly in place. ... show more

  • One of the sturdier tablet holders on the market
Style: Gen 1 Color: Black
I've tried everything from an iPhone 12 Pro to a 1st-gen iPad Pro (12.9") and this arm was able to handle the weight without any droop. However, the jaws do not open wide enough to handle a 1st/2nd gen 12.9" iPad Pro WITH the keyboard cover in place (just need another 1/4"). The more recent versions of the 12.9" have narrower bezels and should fit even with the cover installed. Sturdieness/stability is good enough for watching videos, browsing, and some moderate touch interaction. However, if you're primarily doing drawing with this, the stand may not be steady enough. One good trick though: the groove on the base may be intended to hold your Apple Pencil stylus, but it also serves as a good place to position the bottom edge of your tablet if you want greater stability (see attached picture). Construction is among the best of the holders I've tried. While some reviews have mentioned some concerns about the plastic base, it's actually a metal base with a plastic shell. The arms are fully metal (but do have some plastic inserts that seem to be mostly cosmetic). The arm swivels in the base and the bracket swivels on the end of the arm. Note that there is a drop-down notch in the bracket swivel; you will need to rotate the bracket swivel to position that notch to get to certain positions. My only real complaint is the bracket itself. It is plastic with some rubber inserts to protect the surface/edges of your tablet. I don't object to the plastic; it's use helps the stand handle the bigger/heavier tablets by reducing the net weight that must be supported by the arm. The plastic seems to be of good quality. What I have a concern about is the spring mechanism within the bracket. The feel of the bracket as you open the jaws is a bit rough and cheap feeling, especially in contrast to the build quality of the other parts of this holder. Time will tell how this holds up, but I think that internal spring mechanism is the weak point in this product most likely to fail. Overall, this is probably the best of 4 different tablet holders I've purchased from Amazon. It's expensive, but of the ones I tried offers the highest build quality and supports the widest range of tablet sizes. ... show more

  • Hoverbar duo stand for iPads
Style: Gen 1 Color: Black
Excellent sturdiness. The material quality is just totally heavy duty so it is well worth the purchase price. However the clip system for the iPad is hard to stretch to its full length and a ‘tightening’ system might work better. The desk stand is VERY heavy so it works good. However the ‘clip to desk’ mount should be independent so you can disattach it more easily as switching back and forth is slightly tedious. The iPad holder also did NOT fit over my case necessitating taking my iPad out of its cover which is a real problem (12.9” 2020) and the newer iPad is a lot thicker than the old ones. It also has the iPencil 2 on the magnetic charging dock so you have to have it off and you cannot charge it in the lightning port like my old iPencil 1 (12.9” 2017). You also have to offset it a bit because the upswipe bar to leave an app is smack dab in the middle. Would be nice to stretch the holder to the portrait ends instead of landscape but would require a bit more doing. All in all I found workarounds that are tedious as noted but doable so I will keep it but if the mfr wants me to test a prototype with some design changes, let me know. Btw, the tightening and loosening for the arms works good. ... show more
