Love traxxas I have 4 different models and I've always wanted slash ultimate because they are super durable and fun... 5 min into first run I blew out one of the " upgraded" shocks. I didn't even jump it, mostly doing speed runs and a couple minor tumbles. I've seen these things get beat to hell for months and never seen a blown shock. Probably defective from the factory.     • It took me awhile to find the correct mode for reverse to work.
Out of the box its not a beginners RC but you can tune it down using the stability management and training mode that halves the power. I love that I can connect my phone to it and see live telemetry and change how the truck drives! Very good feature. Overall Good value to buy it built up from the factory. You need to purchase a screen cover that goes over the electronics and drive shaft. Rocks will get slung up onto the drive shaft inside and will start chewing/grinding at the aluminum drive shaft. This is a big overcite IMO and should have been designed with a tunnel to guard it from debris. ... show more

I love this car because it feels like a race car and a beginners car cause it’s so easy to use. When changing the pinion gear. Don’t drive at high speeds then stop right after, it will DESTROY your differential gear!!!!. If it goes in water, it should be fine but if after drying your car and it feels or sounds like it’s working harder to drive, just put wd40 on the gears and it should be fine. ... show more

I will get right to the point on this... READ BEFORE YOU BUY! It really is that simple... the Traxxas vehicles are top notch and a ton of fun, but are going to break! As stated in many reviews you will be purchasing the vehicle and controller, but NO battery. These are not $50 remotes from a toy store... they are fast, they are fun, and again they are going to break! My son is 11 and loves his, but it has broke several times. The up side is I let him work on it and he has learned from owning it. Simply do not buy this if you are not either experienced in RC vehicles, or if you are not willing to learn. People that leave negative reviews and expect this to last years without issues clearly have not owned higher level RC vehicles before. As long you understand what you are buying and don't mind working on and repairing the vehicle I would 100% recommend purchasing any Traxxas vehicles. I have also read negative reviews stating the car was broken and wouldn't run, or that they received bad batteries (purchased separately). Please read the owners manual or even watch a few youtube videos to ensure you have the vehicle in the correct mode for the battery you have purchased LIPO vs NIMH. If it's not the vehicle will not run, or run in a short burst and then stop. ... show more

    • This is a tough RC truck and will go 60 mph without the body!
This is a superb RC truck that is incredibly tough so I bought one for my grandson's birthday. He failed to read the break-in procedure as described in the enclosed booklet. This car has a slipper clutch which is located at the rear end of the driveshaft and it must be tightened or the car will slow down and smoke. The clutch will wear out and need replacement but will last a long time if you follow the instructions! ... show more

Dusty motors bag is a must. Rocks and Twiggy's get stuck in everywhere. But this little truck pumps. I have had it for a while and it has withstood the crashes slams!
