The spray utilizes a proprietary formulation that emulsifies the active ingredient, castor oil, so that it can be easily mixed with water. This specialized process is called Ground Penetrating Technology (GPT). GPT significantly improves the ability of the castor oil to mix with water and penetrate deep into the soil, successfully driving moles and gophers out. The active ingredient in these worms (and the original Talpirid worms) works and is the only effective bait I have found in 40 years of dealing with moles in my yard. I appreciate the Tomcat price being lower than Talpirid, but it is still an expensive remedy. Until recently, the worms were all well formed within their tray molds. However, the last order of four boxes contained several trays with either very thin worms or worms that appear to have run to one end of the mold and overflowed. The quality of the product should be checked by Tomcat. I hope Tomcat completely changes their packaging. The waste is awful. I tend to buy 40 worms (4 boxes). I immediately open all of the cardboard boxes, remove the styrofoam inserts, and set the plastic tray packet bags aside. I then repack the bags into ONE of the cardboard boxes. Almost all 40 worms (20 bags) will fit in ONE box. My four star rating is based on the wasteful packaging and the recent condition of the worms in the trays. ... show more

We don't know how many gophers/moles we had last year (2022) but there were at least 50 holes all over our front yard (and our yard isn't very big). We tried everything we could find to get rid of them until we heard about this product. We got a bag and spread it out in the front and back yards and watered it in and we still had some new gopher/mole holes. It took about 3 bags before the product saturated to ground enough to repel them, but we are gopher/mole free now!! Our neighbors all around us have them, but we don't. We are so happy with this product and know we will continue to use every 6-8 weeks to keep them away!!! Just a note - Please be aware this product doesn't work overnight. It will take a bit to saturate the ground enough so the gophers/moles can smell it and move on! ... show more

Last season we used these around our pool in the vole holes. It did the trick and got rid of them . However this year the holes are back so we have to do it again.

My yard in TX had become overrun with moles- trails everywhere and killing grass and plants in the garden (due to the tunnels allowing too much air by the roots- they don't eat the plants). To get them before the next breeding season, I bought 2 boxes for my half-acre yard last November and put the worms in every active tunnel I could find. Fast forward to spring- the yard is looking much MUCH better, and there are hardly any tunnels found in the garden/yard now. What a change! I bought two more boxes as maintenance for this year. I bought a new house and noticed a BUNCH of mole tracks in my lawn. I tried EVERYTHING you can think of for immediate results (castor oil/dish soap, vinegar, cayenne pepper, poison pellets, traps, etc) but those little critters just wouldn't quit. I decided to buy these Tom Cat Poison Worms and this is my honest review of the product. It is an OK price I suppose, but I had so many tracks in my yard and probably could have used more worms... the worms were intact and easy to remove from packaging and place in the ground. There was no overwhelming smell. Did these work? I don't really know... I tried lots of different things, waited, and still saw new mole tracks. The only thing that worked to make the moles go away was grub killer and lots of time... I might buy them again just to try to do ANYTHING to help but I think it's more for peace of mind than for actual results. I'm a bit skeptical of the results but I also don't think these hurt to try. It didn't help my immediate issue, so if you're looking for fast results, don't be disappointed if these don't do it for you. Hope this helps! ... show more

I wasn’t sure what to except from this product. It was very easy to use. The bag was small enough for me to carry sprinkle the over the affected areas. The smell was mild. There was no clean up. The product worked well and pretty quickly. I saw less holes after using the product.

UPDATE -- After more than a year of using Sweeney mole worms, which work fine, I took advantage (Ha!) of a discounted price on Tomcat mole worms, giving them another try after the experience you can read below. I purchased four boxes. The first one opened contained melted goo, as in 2017. As I type this, I'm on line with a Tomcat live chat support person, who is working on a refund. I like the mole worms -- they work great -- and I like that they stand behind their products when the manufacturing process goes wrong. What I don't like is that the manufacturing process goes wrong. We own a five-acre property. Most of our neighbors do nothing to control the moles on their five- to 10-acre properties, so many of the moles migrate to us. We get a lot of mole attacks each year. I've purchased most types of mole traps made and used a shotgun. All work, but are a lot more trouble than mole worms, which provide the easiest solution by far. I wish Tomcat could figure out what is going wrong. They make a good product. I had to return my entire last order of Tomcat Mole worms because the worms were melted into their packaging and unusable. I have now purchased five defective boxes of Tomcat Mole worms out of the last six. Obviously, I use a lot of them on our 5-acre rural property and have for several years. This is my second attempt at reviewing the product because of what appears to be an on-going issue with either their shipment or their manufacture. I included photos of the melted worms and a longer review and it was rejected without explanation. The worms do kill moles, but they don't do much good if they arrive as melted goo. ... show more
