I don't know what happened this year, but suddenly my house was the meeting point for every earwig in the neighborhood. I mean, they were crawling on my screen door in waves, if you picked up anything outside at night, there was a mat of them - there were literally so many crawling on my hosta stalks that they were bending over. It was gross. Some even made their way into my basement window wells and got in the window down there. Absolutely not. I've tried a few ant killers here and there before, they usually smell foul, don't really last, and are expensive. This product was none of that. It does have a smell, but it's not that strong or awful. It lasted about 4-7 days per application around my sliding doors and the window wells. Obviously it lasted a bit longer with inside application than outside, but the fact that it lasted outside at all is high praise against other products that do not at all. It also seems to kill both ants and earwigs on contact as well as repel them (I live in the woods with a high humidity level, so we get roaming carpenter ants too, and this worked on them as well). It's a bit oily, but I didn't have any issues with it staining bricks, stone, or the white painted trim I put it on outside. It sprays very fine, so it doesn't take a ton to cover a decent area. Also, my dogs and cat had no issue with it, which is great. Since I was spraying it liberally on the threshold where they do into and out of the yard, they came in contact with it to some degree, and they had no issues with it. They didn't even sniff at it. I have a degree in Chemical Engineering, so I'm definitely not one of those "omg chemicals are bad!" people that avoids all pesticide or only buys "natural" things, but I bought this on a whim on sale and highly recommend it. Works AT LEAST as good as standard commercial ant killers like Raid for sure. I will 100% be buying it again next year. ... show more

For some reason, this year the ants have been insane. It's a constant battle trying to keep them out of our home, despite having clean living spaces. I use this spray inside & outside, targeting the main source of an ant trail with just a spray from this bottle. We've tried spraying the outside of the house with bug spray from Home Depot, & it doesn't seem to do much. The trails keep coming back. However, if I spray a trail with STEM bug spray, the trail never shows back up in that same spot. It is so efficient in keeping bugs away from where it's already been sprayed, it smells great, & I'm comforted knowing it is safe around my kids & pets. I've bought this stuff so many times. It's more money & doesn't last as long as a can of Raid, but I will continue to purchase it as long as it works as well as it has been! ... show more

    • Strong smell and leaves a greasy residue

we have a huge problem with box elder bugs, and little gnats. I bought this hoping it would help keep them away. I sprayed this product outside on my door, around the door, and on the panels of my house. The scent is pretty strong, lingers, and isn't particularly pleasant. I sprayed only outside and for several hours after could smell this spray inside my house too. I sprayed the panels on the side of my house as well and noticed as I sprayed a shiny greasy looking residue. Thought maybe it was just from it being wet. I went out towards the end of the night and the residue was still there. I sprayed it with the hose and checked the next morning, and most of it was off. a few days later I went to where we have all our box elders and I didn't see more than 2 or 3 live ones. So it appears this spray is helping and working. I like that its safe to use around animals as I have cats. ... show more

We recently moved more away from the city and closer to the country parts of the city. I started encountering an ant army on my window sill of my bedroom. They were crawling on my drapes and even in the bed with me. I sprayed this down just once and the ants haven’t been back. We noticed they went to the neighboring bedrooms window sill and sprayed there as well and they haven’t been back since! This was a few weeks ago. I like that it’s easy to spray and the smell isn’t too bad. I love that it’s not harmful to pets. I will purchase this again if we even run into an ant problem. try not to use too much of this stuff on walls or carpeted areas because it IS oily may leave a stain. It also leaves a strong citronella scent... I was apprehensive of it's effectiveness since it doesn't have any harsh chemicals.... that being said... I was working in my backyard and a giant cockroach... like an Indiana Jones movie sized cockroach was on my wall. I sucked him up with my shop vac... opened it up and sprayed this stuff inside. He ran around at warp speed in the vac for about 3 minutes and then he flipped over on his back and curled his legs in. it WORKS. The smell went away after a day and the oily residue was a bit difficult to wipe off, but it did eventually wipe off. all in all, this stuff gets the job done and i would rather use this stuff without the risk of potentially poisoning my kid or pets ... show more

Where I live the ants and other bugs easily make themselves at home in my apartment. The ants were AGGRESSIVE. My apartment complex had just sprayed a few days prior and it just wasn’t cutting it. The scent is STRONG but it works!!! It works inside and outside for me. For outside if it rains it’s good to spray again after it dries up a bit. But inside let the air flow a little to circulate the strong smell. I love it because it’s safe to use around my cats. Definitely kills on contact. Haven’t tried it on spiders yet. But I will be! Have those outside my windows. It does also leave some oil behind but I just take some paper towels and dab up the severe excess.
