  • 100% Works
Style: 1 Pack
We bought this over a month ago for our trashcan. We were having major fly and maggot issues with the new trash can that our county provided us. We purchased this product, disinfected and cleaned the can, then installed it. We reinforced it by tying a shoe string around it so it wouldn’t fall off during pick up - which it would have so don’t skip this part! Here we are almost 2 weeks after Hurricane Milton and our trashcan has been sitting down at the curb next to another identical trashcan, both waiting for pick up. Ours is 100% fly and maggot free - the other one is covered inside and out!!. The cans were only about 2 feet apart and it works that well. Our is still perfectly clean!! This Product works! I will always have one in our trashcan going forward. The shoe string was key since after the first pick up it fell off, but it’s still in the can securely with the shoestring. I also read a lot of people secure it with screws inside of their trashcan Either way, buy it if you’re having an issue! We’ve had it for an entire month so far and not one single fly! It works amazingly and you can’t beat the price!! ... show more

  • They work!
Style: 2 Pack
I will be buying more of these. Here in Florida we get those little garbage bugs within days! I hated opening the garbage can to put the garbage out. One day after installing this, no more bugs! There's no smell to it, it's easy to mount on the can, stays on. I don't know yet how long it lasts but for now it is working great. ... show more

  • Good! Use string to hang
Style: 1 Pack
A few things… It definitely works! So glad I have this to keep the flies away! Flies have been so bad lately (unusual for September). It’s been great with my 3 cans. Can’t believe I never got this before. Use a hose and clean out your trash to get rid of flies, maggots, and odors before using. When you open package, there are two slits. Double sided tape is top part of package you tear open. The device is bottom part of package you open. People saying there was no tape didn’t tear top portion. DON’T use the tape- it’s pointless and will not stay stuck to can. You can use velcro tape, but I didn’t want to take a chance it would fall off. Just use some string or ribbon and hang inside can. Super easy to thread a piece of string through the holes and hang in can. It won’t ever fall off on trash day, and it’ll be easy to replace in 3 months. Definitely get this (just don’t use the tape). Tape is why it’s not getting 5 stars. Company should include strong adhesive strip..not some tiny square that doesn’t stick. ... show more

  • so glad it worked
Style: 1 Pack
After having maggots in our trash cans for weeks in the hot summer they kept coming back even after washing and spraying them down. Heard of this and ordered not expecting much but to hopefully cut down on the maggots. But let me tell you a day after putting this in our trash we have not seen a maggot since!! It’s been over 2 months and still no maggots. I duck taped it on just to make sure it didn’t fall off ... show more

  • Terro T800 — kills the beasts so you can keep your sanity!
Style: 1 Pack
We just moved into a recently renovated/flipped home. Everything was brand new and the home was clean, clean, clean! But, we had this horrible problem — flies! We couldn’t open the garage door or take out the trash or even come in the front door without flies getting in. Considering how diseased these critters are, I didn’t want them in my home. At one point I had killed 10 in a single day.. in my home! Enough was enough! We had purchased one of those rectangular zappers you see, rebranded a thousand times, for $40 on amazon and they do work great (although loud and a bit scary to handle.) Even though it was killing our active flies, the problem still persisted. My friend told me to wash out the trash can outside (the likely source of these flies) with bleach and soap water after the trash had been taken. So I did. I bleached and watched all those larvae go toodles into the soapy and bleach abyss. I thought that would be it. But, nope! Two days later, I’m taking out the trash and lift up my trash can and am met with a swarm of no less than 30 flies. 30!! Where did they come from in two days?! So, I turned to Amazon once again. I saw that Terro had a garbage guard for $7 that had decent reviews. So I figured it wouldn’t hurt. I risked it and purchased the Terro T800. It arrived the next day. When I got it, it didn’t smell like anything. It’s super tiny. I thought in NO WAY would this thing do anything. But I stuck it anyway to the garbage kid, and like another reviewer suggested, I put it by the hinge to help prevent it from being knocked out by trash. Then, I close the lid reluctantly. I was pretty sure this tiny, non electrical, non-smelly thing wasn’t going to do SQUAT. Like all the vitamin reviews on Amazon, I was pretty sure any review was made up. But, I left it alone. I came back two days later to take out more trash and was preparing my fateful demise involving 30 more flies. My hand went up to my face. I made sure to close my mouth — you know, just in case. One fly. One came out. WHAT? I look into the trash can which has been previously alive with maggots and saw none. NONE. And what I saw were a bunch of dead fly bodies. Those horrible vermin were gone. This must have what it felt like to be Dexter.. I have officially wiped out the enemy with punishable death. Two days later I return and just a moth comes out and the flies are still dead. It’s been a week and I have not had to kill a single fly in my house. It’s been a week and I have not had to suffer the annoying sound of the bzzzz behind my head as I read a book and then turn around with anger, “Where are you!” I no longer have the guts of flies smashed on my palms as I smash them against the window in my vain quest to rid them from my house. To think, months of suffering with flies and all I had to do was get this Terro Garbage Guard. It is $7 with prime and will be the best investment for you! I cannot recommend it’s enough. Thank you, Terro, for giving me my sanity back. ... show more

  • Great, but the company that makes them is inconsistent
Style: 1 Pack
The first one I ordered last year was amazing, cleared out all the flys after a day. I ordered another one a couple months later and it did not have the same effect. Strange. So I order another one this year and it did not work at all. I then placed another order and after swapping the first one for the second one the flys were dead the next day. I could literally smell the second one when I opened it. Here is my theory based on my experience, only about 60% of these are effective because the manufacturer is not making them consistently enough so that each one they sell is 100% the same as the last. Some are 10% effective, some are 90% but it just depends on what batch you got. This angers me. These are 10 dollars! Not cheap. The person that is making these should not sell these in packs of 1, they should be 2 for 10. Its insane to think that almost half of these sold are total duds. I'm going to start repacking them up and sending them back, you have already burned me out of $20 worth of bad units, I wont burn one more dollar on this. ... show more
