This tile cutter is a beast. It is solid steel and pretty heavy, which is a good thing when you're trying to score and split tough tiles. The setup was pretty straightforward, though without the included directions, I would have been a little lost. I have to make sure to preserve those instructions, or I may have trouble setting it up again in the future. Force is applied to either the scoring wheel or the breaker foot via a long, thick steel bar. This bar is 9/16" thick and 1-1/2" wide. It is probably half the weight of the cutter. The handle is wrapped in plastic and is pretty comfortable. I haven't used it much - just a couple of tests - but it appears to be quite robust. I can't say how long the scoring wheel will last. Hopefully it is replaceable... Overall, this is a very sturdy tile cutter that will accommodate extremely large tiles. It takes up a good amount of space, even torn down and folded up, so make sure you need something this large before purchasing. But if you want to install large tiles (which are much easier to place and align than little ones), this is the beast for you. ... show more

This Tiler manual tile cutter is heavy duty! I'm pretty good with a wet-cut saw, but I had some thinner tile for a smaller area, and was hoping that I could use this manual cutter and not have to drag out the wet saw. Well, this made great, smooth cuts across the width (short cut) of the tile, but I needed to make some skinny cuts to go around a door frame, and I ended up cracking the tile in half when I tried to break the skinny cut. An experienced tile setter that is used to using a manual saw probably wouldn't have had issues, since this thing is a beast, but I went back to the wet saw. ... show more

I had a bathroom that I was redoing and didn't want to get a big fancy electric saw, so this was a nice solution for me. I was able to do all the cutting and finish the whole room all by myself for a fraction of the cost.
