  • Nooie Hits Another Grand Slam!
Construction - As soon as you take the Nooie Cam Outdoor out of the box, you'll notice it has a quality feel to it. The durable case appears to be ABS plastic, which is the same material power tools and motorcycle helmets are made of. The barrel, smoothly yet tightly, rotates 360° on the base and tilts a full 80°. That combination makes for almost infinite adjustments. A generous 10-foot, heavy duty cord is affixed to the back of the camera. I was pleasantly surprised by the overall size of the camera. It's about 20% smaller than what I expected. This is a good thing. It makes it less conspicuous. In fact, it's barely noticeable in the location where it's mounted. Image Quality - Picture quality is just like the rest of the Nooie line....stunning! Colors are saturated, yet natural. Resolution is what you'd expect from a 1080p camera.....razor sharp. The infrared video and stills literally look like a crisp, clear image taken in broad daylight. The only difference is they're in B & W. I can't speak highly enough on this feature, because this is the Achilles heel of most cameras. Normally, infrared video is fuzzy and grainy with blown highlights. Not with this camera. This is due to a feature Nooie calls "gamma correction". It makes an amazing difference! Installation - All of the necessary hardware is included. 4 wood screws, 4 concrete screws, 4 wall anchors, cable clips and a wall mount plate are all included. There are only two mounting screws needed for each application, so they give you double what's actually needed. Setup is a breeze. Most of the complaints related to WiFi you'll see in reviews have to do with one common mistake. Your phone must be on the 2.4 GHz network DURING THE PAIRING PROCESS ONLY. Once paired, you can switch your phone back to the 5 GHz network if you wish. 2.4 GHz has lower bandwidth, but greater range. The 2.4 GHz bandwidth provides more than enough speed. Range is far more important when you're dealing with cameras. The WiFi signal has to pass through doors, walls, floors, etc. Here's one noteworthy suggestion related to attaching the camera to the wall mount plate. The plastic camera base and wall mount plate have a really tight fit. These need to be twisted together to lock in place. I put a few dabs of lithium grease on both parts. I happened to have some laying around the house that I use for general applications. However, I believe petroleum jelly or any type of paste lubricant would also work. Afterwards, both parts twist together smoothly. Bonus Feature - The Nooie Cam Outdoor has an additional feature not found in any of their indoor cameras. There's a notification chime on the camera that's manually activated (by you) within the app. This is to get the attention of someone before speaking to them through the speaker. Pretty cleaver and very convenient. Strangely enough, this feature isn't even mentioned in the owner's manual, which I downloaded from their website prior to purchasing. Customer Service - Over the last few months, I've personally contacted Nooie about a dozen times via email. This pertained to questions and suggestions on improvements to cameras (via firmware) and their app. They've always responded in less than 24 hrs. Recommendations- Without a memory card, these cameras only display a "live view". If you're using them for security, you'll definitely want continuous recording. Even a measly 16GB card will store over a week's worth of video. However, for an outdoor security camera, I would recommend a 64GB micro SDcard. You may not even discover you've had an attempted burglary or vandalism until weeks later, especially if you travel out of town often. You may even capture a crime that happened weeks ago at a neighbors house. This capacity card will allow you to review videos from weeks past. Conclusion - I presently have the Nooie Cam 360, 2 Nooie Cam 1080p's and the Nooie Cam Outdoor. I'm very pleased with the brand in general. Based on construction, image quality, ease of use and value, I highly recommend the Nooie Cam Outdoor. ... show more

  • Decent, but motion detection isn’t great
Camera is good and reliable. It wasn’t working out of the box. I submitted a help form with pics of the make/model/serial number and Nooie pushed a firmware update to the camera. Worked fine since then. I thought I’d pay for the motion sensing video subscription for $7 / mo. Not worth it at all. I created a area to detect motion. Several deliveries over a month and few were ever detected. Canceled the service because I wasn’t willing to pay for 24 hr recording. It’s still nice to have a live feed of the driveway. ... show more

  • Okay for the price but some specific problems
UPDATE: Be cautious of higher-star reviews. I was contacted by the company because of my "negative" review (3 stars - and you can see below it's not strictly negative) and offered my choice of a free product as an "apology." When I replied, it became a direct request to change my review to five stars. If I had accepted, I believe I would have been in violation of Amazon's policies (and I'm sure nooie is, by soliciting this) and if I hadn't disclosed that I had received free product in exchange for my review (and - should be *honest* review, not just artificially inflated) I would be breaking FTC regulations. So - if you're solicited, I'd be careful. And if you're shopping, I'd be wary of inflated reviews. I stand by my original review, but I'll add: I'm not sure the plug is certified as outdoor, and that could be a major liability if you use it outdoors as advertised and something happens (like a fire or a short). I literally had it going back in through a window to an indoor outlet, which was very silly. I had mentioned this issue below, but didn't think to worry about liability and certification. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This is not a bad camera, the picture quality is good, and it works fine. However, we returned it. here's why: - Only one person can see the recorded video - so my husband and I would both get alerts, but only I could see what it caught that caused the alert. He'd just know something had triggered it but have no idea what it was. (He could go to the live video, but if the thing that triggered it was no longer, there, he couldn't see what it was.) There's no way for anyone other than the primary user to access recorded video, even if they receive an alert that something just happened. - This was an outdoor camera, but the plug was absolutely not safe for outdoor use. It's a brick and a USB cable, like you have for your phone. It's not grounded, and while I'm no electrician, I can't imagine there's any way this is an outdoor-rated plug. So we ran it in through the window, which meant we could close the window all the way (winter is coming) and we couldn't choose where to put it because the cord was short. We have an outdoor outlet, but couldn't use it safely with this plug. - When you click on an alert, there's a looooong loading screen, and then a whole bunch of clicks to get to the recording of the event that it alerted you about. It basically just opens the app, and you have to navigate to it (under Inbox, then the device, then click on the right time stamp). And it's only any use if you pay for the cloud storage so you can see the recorded video. If you don't, it takes so long to open, whatever it was is likely gone by the time you can see it. (The one we replaced it with - which rhymes with ding - brings you immediately to the live feed when you tap the alert - it's maybe a second vs. at least 10.) You can get to the live feed slightly faster, but it's still a long loading screen. - Seeing historical video is just not user friendly. You can jump between events using buttons, but it doesn't always seem to go to the right time, and you can't easily scrub through it. The one we got instead allows you to scrub through very clearly, to filter down to only certain events, and to save stills periodically if you want it to. Better experience all around. So, you get what you pay for. I don't think this is a bad device or a terrible experience, but if you can afford the upgrade, you'll get a better device with a better experience. Now that I've seen the one we got instead, I can tell you that it's just an upgrade, all around. It has a much more robust app, which is easier to use and offers lots more features. Cloud storage is less expensive (though the camera is more expensive). There are a couple of security screws, which might seem like no big deal, but it's the difference between someone familiar with the device running up and just pulling out the battery, and running up and having to unscrew it first (or smash it I guess) - and that delay might just be enough time for the live feed to upload so you could see them. The one we got instead also has a solar panel (additional cost) which tops up the battery (which is otherwise rechargeable) so hopefully, it will have enough light that we can just ignore it... without using electricity or having to plug it in. ... show more

  • Great customer service, but poor product for us
Update: We had nothing but trouble with one camera, the other ones issues resolved after a firmware upload. Customer service was in contact almost daily, trying to help us. They gave us a full refund after not being able to fix the problem. Original review: Quality is decent. Features were a plus. However, we have had nothing but trouble with one of these cameras. They were difficult to get connected to our network, won't record like they should, and despite updates in firmware from customer service, continued to give us issues. I am currently trying to return since we are past our 30 day window. They did come recommended by a friend, but his system is set up differently than ours. ... show more

  • Great security camera
Easy installation and a great quality camera! The motion detection is pretty good too. I have a lot of leaves in my backyard so I sometimes get notifications over wind blown leaves but overall works well! I have other Nooie products like the baby monitor and the doorbell camera and I love that I can see everything all in one app! Highly recommend! ... show more
