I’m so impressed having bought this back in Aug 2017 and used it for years, one day it had a problem. The display only had “LL.L f” and no charge of battery or search of the product website had any answer. I’m about to replace this typical “disposable consumer electronics” and thought to contact Ther Pro tech support…. Wow, 1. they answered the phone 2. I could understand the nice lady 3. when she accepted it was way out of warranty, as a one time courtesy, they were going to replace it! Color me impressed! Now to be fair, the only nit picking problem I have with this model is the lack of a light. Only a problem if like me you test food out on the smoker in the dark and are too lazy to bring a flashlight. If I was to need a light, look at the TP03H for sure! We bought this because of the low price tag, but we love it. We didn't think it'd last long after reading the reviews, but it's still kicking here. We'll definitely purchase another if we have an issue. We love that it's magnetic and we keep it right above the stove so it's always visible and handy. While I would have loved to pick a different color, over time, I think the brightness of this stands out and always reminds me constantly to temp. Absolute win. We chose to purchase this over having someone choose one for us without doing any research and we felt this had a great price and plenty of reviews to choose this as our winner. It was one of the least expensive available so that's why I went for it, my nickname is El cheapo. I was very happy with the quality and the ease of operation and especially the very easy instructions. It might be off by 2°. I can't till for sure because I'm comparing it with my air conditioning and heating thermostat and that might be off by 2°. That's primarily why I bought it. Ideally there's a 15 to 20° spread between the outflow of your vent and the return intake. I probably won't use it very much for cooking because I have another kind that you stick in the meat and leave the oven door closed and read the temperature from outside of the oven not on a device inside. ... show more

I have very bad luck with thermometers of all kinds. They always break on me! Thermometers to measure room temps, thermometers to detect fevers, meat thermometers, no matter what - they work for the first several uses, then break. I usually read reviews carefully and purchase accordingly - they still stop working. 🤷 No idea what my deal is. This baby worked flawlessly for over two years. Maybe that's not long for most people, but for me it's basically a miracle. It ceased working today, no obvious breakage, just dead whether I put in new batteries or what. Nice instant on! Good backlight feature! Tested it with two other MUCH more expensive thermometers and the accuracy was great! Takes the guesswork out of "Is this done?" Bought this after seeing it on TEST KITCHEN! Good quality at a good price! The only thing I would like is a wellness chart on the back. I actully love everything about this and it's made even better because of the price. I was so please, I bought one for my mother and sister as gifts. I use readers and was concerned the screen would be to small, but I can read it just fine without my glasses. I gave easy of use 4 because the probe doesn't always ooen all the way when the button is pressed. Now, I flick my wrist like opening some knives and it opens every time. Really it's no big deal. Ticks all the boxes for me! Readout measures quickly and is adequately accurate, easy to read, easy to clean and it is magnetic so I can keep it handy on a metal surface near the range. I use it for everything! Roasted meats, bread making, yogurt and cheese making. Have not tried it for jelly or candy but I don't see why it wouldn't work well there too. ... show more

We used the brand recommended by America’s Test Kitchen more than 20 years ago. It was great but finally gave out. Decided to go with this brand which is 1/10 the price of the other. It works just as well and also includes a nice backlight for the reading.
