So I actually think this works to a large degree. I live where there’s a lagoon in my backyard and mosquitoes can be a big problem during certain times of the year. I don’t like the idea of using the spray fogs with all the chemicals. I tried a little bracelets and anklets they don’t work for me at all. I’ve tried tiki torches or I’ve had so many burning at one time I can barely breathe! This little device charges with a cable. And then runs wirelessly. They’re a little pods with wicks an insert in the device. And when it turns on it does it’s thing it really does reduce the mosquito population. Morning… The first time the power died on it and it stopped working I thought that the pod had reached its end and threw it out. It wasn’t till after I started a new pod and it still wouldn’t turn on and I realized it needed to be charged. I’m sure if I read the manual would’ve known that but either way for all of you out there that don’t read the manuals as well just take note before throwing a perfectly good pot in the garbage. ... show more

Got this in 2 days ago and instructions say to charge for 24 hours. We did that and used it for the first time last night while celebrating a family member’s birthday. It worked amazing and no one was uncomfortable while enjoying a southern front porch with drinks after dinner. This little but mighty device has a great range, is super quiet, and has a wonderful little button that lights up so you know when it is on or off. I've used the Gen 2 for about a month, and even purchased a second to add to the protection size. I have noticed reduced bugs in the area once the 15 minute window is established. When I am out in my yard without it, it makes me realize how affective it is. The negative.... the refill. I wish there was a less wasteful solution to the refill. The fuel pack is a very sturdy no biodegradable plastic. You can't unscrew it to refill it, and there are no replacement refill fluids available from ThermaCell officially. You must buy the hard radius refill packs (which are larger, and last longer, but still the same material). If you are waste conscious, this is something to consider before purchasing. But beyond that they have worked in my experience at repelling flying bugs. I will gladly change my review if a more waste conscious refill option becomes available. ... show more

I've used my Radius Zone Mosquito Repeller a couple of times and here are some thoughts. PROS Effectiveness - seems to keep away the mosquitos...which is why I bought it. I live in Texas and have REALLY bad mosquitos in y backyard. I'm sitting outside right now typing this review after a few rainy/muggy days...normally I wouldn't be able to do this...so that's a big success an the main thing I care about. The only downside is if there is more than a slight breeze, the effectiveness will go down. CONS Easy of use - the blue light is very faint outdoors...I actually had to take it inside to make sure it was even turned on. Having to wait 15 min. before going outside seems a little much...considering the cost to replace the cartridge. Smell - the first time I used it, there was a slight breeze blowing towards me, after a few minutes sitting by it, my stomach felt nauseous due to the fumes (it's a very slight fume, but still affected me). Value for the $$ - seems a bit expensive compared to other repellers with the 12 hour refill priced at around $13...so $1 an hour...throw in the fact that for the first 15 mins (each time you use it) you aren't getting the benefit. Radius - the company is pretty upfront about this, but it doesn't really cover a large area. BOTTOM LINE - it works, but it's a little pricey for what you get. ... show more

Wanted this to work so badly. I get eaten so bad by mosquitos, I cant go outside for roughly 7 months were I live during that "magic hour" for mosquitos. Ive had my yards sprayed for pests, bought citronella tiki torches put the all around the deck, big zapper in the corner of the yard, tried a dynatrap, tried every bug spray you can get (including pure deet), dryer sheets in the pockets, bracelets on my wrists and ankles, everything short of a beekeepers uniform. I've read alot of good things about this company, the main complaint being the cost of continually buying fuel and refills. So when the electric version came out I figured I'd give it a shot. It's smaller than I expected, easy to charge, easy to operate, portable, what's not to love right. Well it doesn't work, not even a little bit from what I can tell. I replaced my sliding screen door with one of those magnetic mesh screens, took about 30 mins. I took this unit outside and set it directly next to where I was working, turned it on, and left it to run for a while before I started. Withing 2 minutes of being outside, my legs were attacked, I thought maybe the slight puffs of wind I can barely feel on my cheek may be enough to blow the vapors away, so I out in on the deck directly between my legs and got back to work. Within a couple minutes I felt the familiar tickle on the leg hair and look down to see the biggest damn mosquito I've even seen in Oregon going to town on my inner calf, maybe a foot directly above this unit. So dissapointed I wanted to cry, yet another "miracle" machine that doesn't do anything. That disappointment quickly turned to anger resulting in this machine learning to fly. Living in what I believe is the mosquito capital, this little workhorse runs off mosquitos allowing us to enjoy time on our deck. The mosquitos are 24/7 and within 15 mins of placing this on the deck there is not a mosquito around. We can sit out undisturbed for over 4 hours.
