  • So far so good (updates to follow, I promise!)…
Color: Black
The box was a bit tattered upon receipt so I question if this was a return (which makes me nervous that something is wrong with it…we’ll see). First, the instructions are available via the QR code on the box - the company website says the instructions are also printed on the inside of the box, but that was not the case with mine. Second, remember to hold every button for a couple seconds to get it to work - whether it’s the on/off button or the button for the light - it’s not instantaneous so patience is a virtue. Third, mine arrived with a charge but I topped it off and gave it a try - it worked beautifully. And so far I haven’t had any of the issues others have reported (most notably, the plastic casing didn’t burn). BUT a lot of the complaints seem to be that the lighter would not take a second charge or that the charge only lasted a very short time. The company claims the product can light up to 1000 times under one charge. I’ll keep count and report back. I’ll also report back after recharging the device whether or not it continued to work. Time will tell. So, my initial thoughts are this is a cool device, albeit kind of expensive. And, most importantly, it works! It does not feel substantial at all though so I am betting if I were to drop it by accident that would be the end of it. Again, time will tell. I will update my review when I have more to report, but so far so good… ... show more

  • Don’t waste your money
Color: Black
It worked twice. Then never again. It is fully charged and lights up but the contacts that would light a candle or incense don’t respond nor connect to send out a spark. It really is a piece of junk so I’d advise people to save their money. It’s a great idea that unfortunately doesn’t work.

  • DOA
Color: Gold
Dead on arrival. Spent hours charging, power indicator LEDs were all lit, no activity at all on activation. Also needs you to scan a QR code to get to the instructions, which is the fastest way to give your phone malware that I've seen on a commercially-available product. UPDATE: So in a fit of curiosity I decided to take this apart and try to figure out what was actually wrong with it, if I could fix it or at least salvage some part of it for reuse elsewhere. The TL;DR is that the external (press-able) power button was misaligned in the case so that it would never contact the internal power button (the one that actually turns things on) no matter how much it was pressed. Everything else inside is surprisingly well made, and with a minor repair the thing now works perfectly fine. This would be five stars if I didn't have to fix the thing myself day 1. The entire case is held together with pegs, half of which will break when you take it apart, not screws but at least not glue - the case goes back together securely even with half the pegs broken. A mini-prybar or sturdy piece of thin metal is recommended if you attempt this. The insides are held together with a couple of tiny screws and a spring (spring just auto-retracts the contacts), all of which can be easily accessed once the case is open. The internal circuitry actually appears to be well made for what it is - there are two boards, both coated, connected through a removable pin connector that is much less flimsy than the case pins despite being incredibly tiny. The other internal electrical bits are similarly surprisingly not horribly flimsy, although some of the internal cabling is very very tiny. There are two switches, one for on-off overall power and a separate one for on-off of the actual arc, both of which are hard mechanical contacts and not soft ones. The overall power switch is a simple latching click on click off, holding either state when not being actively pressed; the arc switch is non-latching and only remains on when being actively pressed. These switches are entirely contained within the case and not directly pressed by the user, but are instead pressed indirectly through a plastic switch that sticks part way out of the case - the overall power is the labeled button visible on the case that is itself directly pressing the real switch, and the arc power is the slider (which has a few more plastic linkages but is the same idea). The problem with these is that they are drop-in pieces only, not attached to the case or internals in any way at all. They just sit there, held in place only by their respective cutouts in the case, cutouts which are rather loose and allow for deviations in exact location. There's nothing to positively align them, so someone can easily drop it in during assembly (or re-assembly, if you're trying this yourself) in such a way that the plastic bits will completely miss the actual switch when pressed. The issue here is with assembly, not internal part quality. A simple issue to fix, just open the case and nudge the plastic bit around until it lines up then close the case again without bumping the plastic bit you just moved, but having to fix anything day 1 is incredibly obnoxious. ... show more

  • Worth the extra money
Color: Blue
The lighter is much more effective than the cheaper types of candle lighters. It extends out to the wick and is larger and stronger. It is very comfortable to hold and does have a useful flashlight as well. I like the cobalt blue color which is also hard to find. The cheaper type began failing some time ago, I expect this one will last much longer. ... show more

  • Functional and definitely makes for a good gift, but color not true to images
Color: Olive Green
This lighter has proven to be a reliable and multifunctional tool. I love that it's rechargeable and has a built-in flashlight. The polished look, matte finish, and the fact that there's like 30 colors you can pick from makes it VERY giftable (I actually bought one for a family member in their favorite color as a Christmas gift before I got one for myself!) One thing to note: I thought it would be smaller--it's actually QUITE large. I used to store my old rechargeable light in a pen cup for quick access... you can't easily do that with this one because of how large and wide it is. Think the size of a standard flashlight. Not a huge deal; I didn't read the size on the product page so I'm just noting it for other people in case they miss that. It's also worth noting that the color I received wasn't quite what I expected. I ordered olive green and while the color looks like a light olive (almost sage green) on the Amazon page, the actual color is a kind of drab army olive green (almost gray-ish). It didn't quite suit me and I wish I had picked out a different color! Despite the minor color variation, this lighter delivers on its promises of functionality and quality!! ... show more

  • So far so good
Color: Magneta
This was purchased to be a gift. The color I chose is hot pink and it is true to the picture advertised. Although it came out of the box with a partial battery charge, I did fully charge it and then test it by lighting a candle before wrapping it up for my mom’s birthday. The lighter is larger than I expected, but I don’t mind the size. My husband says it feels cheap, which is just based on the weight and feel of the lighter in hand. I caught this on a fall Prime Day deal and I don’t feel that I overpaid. I found the lighter easy to operate and am hoping my mother gets some good use out of it. She is a smoker, loves candles, and cooks on the grill regularly so I think she will enjoy it. ... show more
