  • Tries to be too many things to too many people.
This very thin book tries to be all things to all people with multiple chapters on specific smoothies to alkaline your body, diabetic smoothies, cleansing smoothies, skin smoothies, to name but a few. I am new to the smoothie world and was just looking for a book that would introdice me to tasty and healthful combinations, as well as give me pointers as to what value a particular fruit or vegetable would bring to a smoothie. Looks like you would have to spend a fortune on various fruits, vegetables and herbs before you could simply whip up something that is enjoyable and tasty. And many of these smoothies do not at all sound tasty. Maybe if you have been into making your own smoothies for quite a while and have particular health concerns this will be a good book for you. But for just learning to make fun and tasty smoothies out of common ingredients that you have in your house, this book is pretty useless. ... show more

  • You could find better smoothie recipes!
There is no author, thus no credentials. There are no suggested substitions, either as an appendix or within a recipe (for example, I don't like kale, so is it better to substitute spinach? Watercress? Arugula?) There is no mention anywhere whether fresh or frozen fruit works better. Assume most vegetables are presumed to be fresh (2 kale leaves. But how much frozen could be used as a substitute?) Lots of sweet potatoes in the recipes, but doesn't mention whether orange--technically yams--or white are recommended. Very limited recipes with yogourt. None with tofu. Overall, very disappointing. ... show more

  • No pictures
Great recipes, but not one single picture in it and I’m a visual person. It would be nice to have seen some vibrant colored pictures of the finished products to be more enticing. Really good recipes though and I can’t wait to make some of them.

  • Great book for juices, not so much for smoothies
Recipes are all fruit and veg. The author says feel welcome to add other stuff. I'm new to smoothies and I love them but I'm looking for meal replacement, and I need there to be protein... protein powder or yogurt and almond milk or soy... it would be great to have recipes that USE these ingredients so you know how much to add and so they are meant to be part of the flavor. Very disappointing. ... show more

  • Smoothies can cure what ails you!
I originally purchased this book because I enjoy drinking smoothies as a post workout recovery drink and I needed some new ideas. Wow, was I impressed. There are so many recipes and every recipe I have tried is DELICIOUS. They creatively combine fruits and vegetables to maximize nutrition and flavor. “Super Berry Freshee” and”Fruity Vitality Smoothie” are my personal favorites. Yum! I appreciate that this book took the time to explain the nutritional benefits of each drink. Each chapter is dedicated to a certain health benefit like “Cleansing”, “Anti-aging”, and “High-Energy”. The authors thoughtfully explain how each ingredient will provide the designated health benefits. They even go the extra mile to spell out what exactly an anti-oxidant is and why they are so important. I love the fact that there is an entire chapter dedicated to smoothies for kids. And the recipes are all really easy to make. If you have a blender and some fruits and vegetables you are ready to go. This book would make a great gift. There is truly something for everyone. Whether you are a healthy eater looking for new ideas or someone who is starting a new diet, this book will inspire you to eat well. I can't wait to try every recipe! ... show more

  • Full of yummies.
For a first time juicer / smoothie person, this is not too bad of a little book. However, there are some details that have been left out that would greatly help with people (like me) who are using these recipes for health reasons. 1: There is no nutritional information for any of the recipes: no calories listed or even serving suggestions. Though the recipes state how many cups the recipes provide, non say how much is a serving. For those of us who are watching calories or other nutritional values such as protein and so forth, having a nutritional list would be beneficial. 2: It would also be helpful if there was a list of substitutions for certain ingredients (such as the honey and dairy) for people who are diabetic / lactose intolerant. Some recipes call for honey, but agave nectar is lower on the glycemic index and much easier for all bodies to digest. Common sense would provide a person the ability to substitute on their own, but some people do not know there are also healthier substitutions available. :) Otherwise, this is a great little book. ... show more

  • The Smoothie Recipe Book
The use of fresh fruits and vegetables to promote good health is nothing new. Top clinics including Gerson incorporate raw fruits and vegetables into their treatment regimens. We're not talking the kind of spa where people go to drop a few pounds, although those places use fresh produce to help people tone and revitalize the body. Instead we're talking about places where major health intervention occurs through proper biotic nutrition. Fresh, raw fruits and vegetables are exploding with vitamins and enzymes. Enzymes act as catalysts. They trigger proper chemical processes in the body allowing it to cleanse itself, process vital nutrients, and repair tissue. With The Smoothie Recipe Book, we have in one-place delicious, invigorating recipes that counteract the effects of fatigue, illness, and processed, high fat diets. Recipes are presented in groups addressing brain nourishment, kid-friendly recipes, cleansing and weight loss, and even diabetes. With each Smoothie Recipe Book recipe you find the list of ingredients, simple instructions and a short description of the specific benefits of these ingredients. Did you know that pomegranate not only stops cancer but also cleans the teeth? Get The Smoothie Recipe Book and get blending. ... show more
