I got this for a friends kid for his birthday. He loves it. And he and his sisters use it a lot. It seems to appeal to 5 year olds and 9 year olds. Great way to get the kids outside and get some Vitamin D from that sun. And they have worked collaboratively in their play.

We bought this for our son when he was about 2 years old. He's 7 now and it has gone through another wild child since then. This excavator was purchased to be used in an unused dirt pile and it has been a favorite of our 2 boys ever since. It has been used with a wide range of kids from age 2 to age 12 so far. It has held up beautifully over the last 5 years of owning it. No rust, no maintenance, nothing. It has weathered the elements very well. We have left it outside in all types of weather and it is still going strong. Our second son, now 4, is the primary user of it. He drags it all over the yard and it has not broken yet. Believe me when I say, he is rough on everything in our home. It was also easy to put together for my engineer husband so I can't take credit that. My 3 year old boy loves this. All parts were there and material seems durable. Size is as advertised. The only thing is if your kid moves it in a different spot in the sand box it can become unstable but is very stable if on perfectly flat ground. Buy this for your construction loving kid! It’s a bit smaller than I anticipated but still fun nonetheless. It provides hours of entertainment! Assembly wasn’t that bad- I think it took me maybe 10 minutes tops. A great idea for a gift.
