  • Actually works!
Style: 1 Pack
First, don't even try to rely on the sticky pad provided. Use it, but use packing tape as well or the item will just fall into your trash. I used a couple of long strips of packing tape and ended up covering 80% of the holes, leaving just those on each end uncovered. I expected that would nullify the effectiveness of the product, but it didn't. I've been struggling for months with gnats in an under-the-sink trash can and gnats and houseflies in an outside one. (Yes they're clean, closed and bags changed. I've sprayed, etc). Nothing worked and I wasn't holding my breath for this device, but much to my very happy surprise, they really work. I have no more issues in either place (much to the chagrin of the geckos who used to hang out on top of the outside can to feast). ... show more

  • This saves our trash from being a bug haven!
Style: 2 Pack
Two years ago when I started buying these garbage guards, I was outside on a particularly hot day and saw maggots on our trash bin. I was absolutely mortified and disgusted. I ordered these and the problem was gone days later. We live near a farm so the flies are everywhere and this really keeps them at bay. I also don’t smell these at all. I was thinking they’d smell like poison or just a terrible chemical smell, but they don’t. They’re also really durable and never once have they fallen off from the garbage truck shaking the bins. ... show more

  • Read this before installing
Style: 1 Pack
This is a great product. I highly recommend using a shoe string to install. My first purchase was a loss because it did not stick and was gone when the trash was emptied. I used a shoe string this time and it's still there and no more flies when I open can

  • Doesn’t stick long-UPDATE 6/4/24
Style: 2 Pack
UPDATE: After using a string to put on the guard and tied to my trash can handle it worked! It does keep the flies away. As long as you tie it or use heavy duty packing tape it will work just don’t rely on the adhesive itself. Terro still needs to make a better application for this. Terro is a great product and I use a lot of their products but this one I wouldn’t recommend because they fell off after 2 days. It probably would have been a good product but the adhesive is terrible. They’re not cheap and I’ve replaced them twice now. I did miss the return window by 2 days so that’s my fault. It’s also very difficult to get the adhesive off the side you stick in your trash can. I wouldn’t recommend this until they come up with a better adhesive. That’s my two cents. ... show more

  • I think this worked..
Style: 1 Pack
I had a horrible horrible fruit fly infestation in my apartment. The culprit I believe were banana peels and other foods in my kitchen trash can. I purchased this and stuck in on the inside lid of the trash can as well as put up apple cider vinegar traps and fly ribbons everywhere. I believe this device really helped. After the first day I noticed a huge loss of fruit flies, yet only a few were caught in my traps. I believe the bulk of them died in my trash can due to this device. The smell it gives off is quite strong and will make you dizzy if you smell it to close like I accidently did when trying to get it out of the package. The adhesion that came with it sucks though. The paper wouldn't peel off on one side of the adhesion so I couldn't even use it. I used command strips to stick it to the lid of my trash can. ... show more

  • Works ok
Style: 1 Pack
When this insect killer was new, it killed lots of flies and maggots. About a month later it kills about half of them. The more trash, the more flies and its not killing all of them now. I attached it with a wire so I don't need to remove it on trash pickup day. Judging by the way its working, in another month I may need to buy a new one. I works for the first weeks, but not for as long as they claim. ... show more

  • It just didn't keep the flies out of the garbage can
Style: 1 Pack
I cleaned my garbage can well prior to use and even put scented water around the outside lid area (cinnamon and cloves) to discourage flies. I'm in the deep South, where it's hot, humid & a playground for flies. I double close all trash bags so the garbage isn't accessible. I've had the insect killer in the lid of the can for 5-6 days now, and it just isn't doing the job. I finally bought Hot Shot and spray the can with a few sprays every time I take the trash out. That works. Bug & insect control is difficult in the South, so just because it doesn't work here doesn't mean it won't work for you. It would have been all I needed in other places I've lived. ... show more

  • Good product
Style: 1 Pack
I have been using this product for two years. Especially summer time. The sticker/tape is not strong enough and it came off after the trash day, so I put some extra tape over it. I don’t say there is no fly coming out from the trash bin, but is way better than nothing
