My little house sits above an unfished dirt basement where spider crickets were thriving and living their best life. If they'd stayed down there we could have lived all copacetic but unfortunately they began invading my house, coming up through the air vents in the floors. It was like something out of a horror movie. Every night beginning around 9:30 they'd creep up into my bedroom, crawl up the curtains, and often make their way into my bed. Pure nightmare fuel. I'd easily kill 8-10 of them every night in my bedroom alone. I used this Ortho Home Defense Max Indoor Insect Barrier in conjunction with Niban Granular Insect Bait (also purchased here on Amazon). Both have great reviews and I was desperate to eradicate the spider crickets ASAP. I applied the insect barrier liberally in the basement and sprayed around the air vents in my house. I also sprinkled the insect bait in the basement, around the perimeter of my house, and put out paper plates of it inside on the floor near the vents. The insect barrier had no strong scent that I could detect. The sprayer stopped working with about half the container left but I took to just sloshing it on the basement walls. It worked remarkably fast. The second night there were maybe 4 cricket invaders, the third night maybe 2. Then none. Over a month later now and I haven't seen a single spider cricket. I can finally go to bed without having to look over my shoulder (literally, sometimes I'd look over and these little buggers would be chilling right next to me) and I don't have to watch where I'm stepping for fear of squishing one under foot. The peace of mind is priceless. An added bonus is that this (and/or the Niban Granular Insect Bait) is killing other creepy crawlies like centipedes which I detest even more than spider crickets. The extension wand is good but it doesnt lock all the way, like if it swings it unlocks and becomes a "broken wand" had to straight it several times when using it on a high location. Doesnt leave any marks or residue and it has lowered the amount of critters around my house.

I’m not exaggerating when I say this has been the best pest control product I’ve ever used. I had issues with roaches, ants, and some kind of tiny flying insects. This wiped them out completely and keeps them away. It’s so easy to apply, and covers a ton of area. I still have half a jug remaining. The day after I used it, I saw two cockroaches crawling out to die. The ants and tiny flies disappeared. One application lasts so long. It’s been like two months now, and still no ants, roaches, or flies. I’m amazed. In the past, I’ve always been disappointed. The product might work for a week or two, then the bugs return. This updated version addin Max to the name is just that...Works great if used properly ( though as in the case with insects like roaches it is not possible to get rid of them in a few days). Though I did not use the directions for use as having helped several people nearby where I live with the problem, I found it worked better not to put a 4 inch barrier as it wastes the product unnecessarily...Better to do a thin line around all the places the bugs can get in, especially at night and always after using dinner and after breakfast..also keep lights on at night in areas like the kitchen as the bugs like the dark. Nozzlee and length of fold out wand are fantastic....Highly recommend the product and the price on Amazon is by far the best. ... show more

Kills German roaches, but very slowly, often have to drown. Some other aerosols I tried would have instant effect unlike this one (very slow, they will keep running for quite some time). No longevity or delayed effect at all, sprayed same spot several times, roaches happily crawl over it next day with no effect. Sprayer is good, arrived on time and in good condition, doesn't smell too bad, but overall product not very effective (at least on German roaches). Not sure if weak formula or not concentrated enough or maybe my pests have adapted, haven't tried on other insects. ... show more

Bought this for a New York apartment that has German cockroaches. Now I don't get many but when they do get in they travel all around and are very difficult to kill cause they move so quick. Had a roach which was hanging around a couple of days. Sprayed this product throughout the whole house mostly in the baseboards of all the walls. The next day I found the roach dead. A week later another roach got in and holed up in my closet. I sprayed Ortho along the doorway of my closet and bedroom. The next day the roach was dead in my kitchen. Easy to spray, stainless and completely odorless this product works great for me.
