This is a nice, large umbrella that is bright and light. It covers our table and chairs nicely and seems to repel water wonderfully. I was concerned that I would have to open it up after a rain to let it dry but that hasn't been the case. Although it tilts, I haven't needed to use it. The one improvement I would recommend is to lower the handle. It is fairly high up on the pole so when you open or close it, you have trouble seeing what you are doing. These are great! I have a large concrete area on the side of my house that gets full hot Central California sun that heats up my kitchen and makes my A/C work hard and drives up my electric bill. The umbrellas work perfect! They keep the heat down but still allow the light into my kitchen window. I like that they can be moved around. I bought heavy duty 40 pound metal bases. They do not come with a base. These umbrellas are not supposed to be free standing but these heavy bottomed bases keep them up. If you live in a windy area then they would definitely blow over, but we don't so it's fine. They do tilt but it's only one setting. That's one thing I don't like. I would prefer to have a few tilting settings. The height is not adjustable but that's fine. Sitting in the base, they are plenty tall enough. I'm very happy with these and I plan on buying a couple more to get more coverage. ... show more

We purchased a 9 foot umbrella for our patio table. Within a week, a good wind had knocked over the entire table and the umbrella. The pole of the new umbrella and the crank case was bent and crushed - only a week old it was toast. I wrote to Joy at Tempera Customer Service, shared my story, gave photographic proof of my situation and was promptly shipped a brand new replacement at no added charge. We now have extra weight holding the umbrella down under the table as extra added support. I was truly amazed at the warmth, speed, and gracious attentiveness in their customer support. Easy to assemble and value for money is good. Only used for about one month, so will have a better idea next year if color fades or not. Had not used this side of deck because it got too much direct sun, but this umbrella offers perfect protection. Easy to tilt and spin around as the sun moves.

The old style I had to climb on to the table or chair to put the little stick into the center shaft, and also to set up the push button tile. Unlike previous patio umbrellas, the crank handle is quite far up on the pole so that you have to get your head under the fabric so it can clear you as it expands -- other than that, perfect.
