This is a beautiful, generous sized deck umbrella. The only thing that could make it better is a way to lock the umbrella into its full open position. Over several hours open the umbrella starts to very slowly become slack. It was extremely easy to set up and gives wonderful sun protection. UPDATE the customer who asked why her umbrella doesn't open like the photo: I believe you have not fully pushed the open/close handle up to its fully open position. After you do that notice the little black clip. You need to press this clip open and attach it to the piece just above it to keep it I'm its full open position. ... show more

This is easy to assemble and has good sun coverage. The feature that allows the umbrella to be tilted does not work. It is a plastic piece that snaps onto the arm of the umbrella, but the plastic does not hold against the metal. I'm going to add a small piece of rubber and see if that works. Also, the solar lights only worked the first night and then quit working. I contacted the company's customer support and have not yet had the issue resolved. Otherwise I would give this a 5 based on the price. I'm adding an update since the first review. I heard back from the company's customer service and their solution was highly satisfactory. You know the old adage, "you get what you pay for"... well, it is most definitely true. I really wanted to like this umbrella. I gave it every chance. But now, I just can't and my husband is ready to throw it in the trash. First off, this thing is cheaply made - but what do you expect for such a good price. Important parts that should be made of a sturdy metal or, at least, aluminum, are made of plastic. And plastic that is not designed to withstand wind shear or torque. While these pieces haven't broken yet, you can see the stress and warping on them and I fully expect it to fail any day now. What's more, for an umbrella that has a footprint of 10' x 10', I expected this to sit a little higher than head height when fully extended...but it just doesn't. I'm not a tall person, nor is my husband, and it isn't that comfortable to stand under when needed. Expect to get walloped in the head if the wind gusts while you're relocating. I've had it more than an entire season and haven't been able to really enjoy it once. The stand keeps falling over from the slightest of wind and is now nearly completely broken and is bent and warped beyond repair. The umbrella spins almost freely in the stand, too... the very one recommended by the company that made both. The slightest bit of wind turns the umbrella out of position, completely exposing the entire area that I want shaded in the first place, only to have it follow shortly after by completely falling over. I wish I could say something nice and good and fully recommend this thing, but I just can't. 1-star for Sturdiness because I can't give it less - but I wish I could. 2-stars for Sun Protection because I'm sure it would actually be nice if it would stay put. 3-stars for assembly because it wasn't horrible to put together, it was just very, very awkward. ... show more

So, it’s a lower cost offset umbrella. I had my expectations in check before it arrived. Shipped fast. No damage to box. Assembly was easy. It looks great. Has wonderful coverage and my family loves the integrated lighting. Unfortunately, the support arm bent under a light breeze on the first day. I had the umbrella locked into the lower half pretty well and didn’t expect the umbrella to twist in the breeze as it did. Umbrella hit the house and the support arm for the arced top tube bent a little. I’m going to drill into the umbrella poll to use a pin or bolt to keep the top half from moving, since we don’t need the umbrella to rotate in its base. I contacted their customer support through Amazon requesting if a replacement support arm would be available, so I could fix it myself. Unfortunately, they don’t supply parts, but fedexed a brand new umbrella to me the same week! Was going to rate the umbrella at 3 or 4 stars, but the customer service raised the bar to 5. I will purchase more products from this company in the future because of the effortless and kind customer service experience. ... show more

I purchased this umbrella to use over our hot tub outside. It was easy enough to assemble and install. I also purchased weights for the base. This is a MUST unless you are bolting it down on your deck. Pros: it lasted 18-months. It opened and closed as needed. It was reliable for shade. Cons: A. Solar Lights 1) on/off switch did not work from day 1, 2) lights only worked during the day time and 3) the batteries only last for a brief while. B. Wind is not this umbrella's friend. ALWAYS fold it up in windy weather. The base legs bent. When it fell over, the top joint broke, but the umbrella still functioned C. Time is not this umbrella's friend. The center string broke. It is now un-usable. For approximately $100, it was fine for one year. Will I buy another one... not so sure. It seems unlikely. ... show more
