  • Perfect!
Bought for my deck... yes, taking precautions for sparks and heat. Great little unit. Small enough for a couple smores, big enough for a steak or two. Perfect on a summer evening when I don't want to build a fire in the big firepit out in the yard.

  • Easy to move around, good looking pit, grilling grate is flimsy
This is great for a small area and accommodates 4 people well. You will be using wood pieces cut around 12" or under, to keep them from hanging over the edges if you want to use the dome ember screen. The steel removable fire bowl has a pencil diameter drain hole is fairly shallow and I can stack 3 chunks of wood and still fit the ember screen on. The cooking grate is pretty flimsy, so don't expect it to be a main cooker, but does fine with a couple of burgers. I don't normally cook on it but tried it out to see how it did over a bed of coals. The concrete compound base it lighter than you would think. It's overall smaller diameter and cut out handles make it easy to move around, of course while not in use and cooled down. I've had it sitting in full exposure in the Phoenix AZ area for 5 months and the finish has not faded cracked or flaked, so I haven't needed to use the touch up paint kit which comes with the pit. I really like the look and function, other than the cooking grate, of this small pit and will be ordering another as a gift. Hopefully this was helpful, Thank you! ... show more

  • A nice looking small firepit
This is a great looking fire pit, and a nice size for 2-3 people. It is just the right size for a concrete pad the prior owners poured (for what reason we do not know). It comes with a grilll, a spark screen, a poker and a can of touch up paint, which actually gave me pause. I do not like burning anytthing, wood, or especially charcoal (because of the temperature) in something which is painted. It also means that it will likiely rust, quickly, which is the primary reason anyone would paint metal, BUT, the main reason for my 4 star rating (and probably I should go lower, but... it is a very nice looking fire pit) is the prop 65 lead warning which came with it. All the said, we have not lit it yet because I am worried about the paint, I am worried about the fumes. I do not think I want to cook over it with the warning which was enclosed, which puts quite a damper on the entire experience. {I work with hot glass and am ve4ry aware of the metals used to color it, wearing a gas mask when I melt some} and... but for the Uranium glass, well the fumes could potentially be more dangerous than the glass I wear a mask when melting (and, an N95 mask is not sufficient. A 3m vapor mask is what I use, ) but then I know a fair bit about the damage caused by consuming lead..... and fumes are more dangerous than paint chips. I frankly wish that anything which comes with such a warning had it in the description so that you know about it before you order). ... show more

  • Nice, unique fire pit. Love that it can double as a grill, too
The media could not be loaded. We haven't had many coolish evenings since we received this fire pit, but last night was one, finally. So, I loaded it up with appropriate wood, and let 'er rip. First of all, we love the unique look of this pit. It's a pleasant red color, made of some type of ceramic. A nice touch is it comes with a tube of touchup paint. Included in the box were the pit, a lower grate to keep coals and such from falling into the pan, an upper grate that functions as a grill, a device for holding your hot dogs or marshmallows, and a spare dome, to keep most of the sparks contained. We haven't used it as a grill, yet, but plan to as the evening's get cooler. Out pit has been outside, in the weather, for over a month, and it's survived nicely. Sure, there is a little rust on the metal parts, but nothing horrible, and it IS an outdoor device. The fact that the pit itself is ceramic means it won't rust. I placed the pit on a couple pavers, to level it, and keep it off the grass, in case any embers were to full through the drain hole, and onto our drought-parched lawn. Oh, and speaking of the drain hole; it's pretty small. During most rainfalls, the surface tension of the water accumulating in the bottom pan sealed over the hole, until a significant amount of rain had accumulated in the pan. I'm probably going to drill it out a little. Looking at the neighbor's fire pits, this one is on the small side, but not too small. Most of the pieces of wood were around 12-15" long, and one load of wood and kindling lasted almost 2 hours, which was plenty long, as this time of year, we share our backyard with quite a few mosquitos. So, all in all, we really like this fire pit. It's a little heavy compared to the metal ones, but its uniqueness and sturdiness make up for this. Don't imagine we're gonna have to chase this down after a windstorm like a few of our neighbors have had to retrieve their metal pits. Highly recommended. ... show more
