I have a waist length ponytail. At the end of the day, my hair usually has a few knots in the vicinity of the elastic. My regular hairbrush just catches in the knots. I hoped that this brush would help with that. While I will readily grant that this brush does not get caught in the knots, neither does it untangle them. The reason that it does not catch is that half of the bristles are half length. That helps the brush to glide over the knots without catching. However, it does nothing to untangle them. It works ok in conjunction with my other brush and a bit of judicious manual untangling. There is one other thing that it does well. When I've been working in my wood shop or around the house, my ponytail will pick up dust and debris. This brush is excellent at combing that stuff out. ... show more

To start I have (42") long, fine, thin, and knotty hair. It usually takes me at least 10 minutes to detangle my hair after I get out of the shower, which is a chore and I usually end up with a huge ball (~2" diameter) of broken/ripped out hair, ouch! I bought this brush a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it! At first, it sounded like I was ripping my hair out but no ouchie 🤔. Then, I was like, there's no way this is going to work, all its doing is brushing over my knots. I kept going, pulled my hair forward and looked in the mirror and was utterly shocked as my hair looked smooth as if the knots were coming out. I was shocked, I looked at the clock and I couldn't believe that only 2 minutes had passed. My knots were completely gone and hair was completely smooth. Oh ya, and to make things even better, when I cleaned my brush there was only maybe 1/4" round ball of loose hair that came out at some point. This may look like a doll brush but let me tell you it's here for the long haul. I have incredibly long and thick hair which is wavy/curly, which can lead to lots of matting. People rant and rave about how amazing a wet brush is, I don’t see it. My hair gets wrapped around the balls on the end of the bristles or gets caught and it’s miserable. I was tired of the same thing happening with my daughters hair so I looked for an alternative. This Tangle Teezer brush is better than anything I have ever used! Our hair doesn’t get caught, he helped us sets for severe mats in our fine curly headed daughters hair and I’m blown away. Starting with shipping - I’m glad this wasn’t a gift because the packaging was busted and the brush was hanging out. For detangling - My 7 year old daughter is the most tender headed person I’ve ever seen in my life. So she said this brush pulled and hurt as much as her old wet brush. However, I’m not surprised by this. Her head is extremely sensitive, but as a mother having to tame that mane, it’s a game changer. I had her hair set angled in less than 5 minutes. Her old brush would take 10-15 minutes. I didn’t even section her hair with this new brush. I LOVE it. It’s easy to hold, I don’t feel like it breaks her hair as much as her wet brush. I am concerned about how long it’ll last. The bristles feel like they’ll break easily over time, but only time will tell. I worry about traveling with it. I don’t want to bristles to be bent and break in a suit case. I’m not sure how that will go. Overall, I am happy with this purchase and I think my daughter is too considering it cuts the brush time in over half. I would easily recommend this brush to anyone. ... show more
